The unnamed shark is a minor antagonist in DreamWorks' 17th full-length animated feature film Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. It is a great white shark that antagonized Mort throughout the second act of the movie, first appearing once Mort makes it to the coast of Africa, after falling off the plane.
The Unnamed shark is voiced by Paul Walter Hauser.
Role in the Film[]
Throughout the latter half of the movie the shark is seen chasing Mort first at the coastline, where it emerges from the water at high speed and goes on to chase Mort further Inland before the scene cuts. The next time the audience sees the shark, it is in the final act of the movie, where it chases Mort to Kenya and by extension; to King Julien and Maurice. Mort enters the volcano through a cave exit appearing visibly mangled and disheveled, before rushing over to King Julien and Maurice. Before they can reunite, the shark appears from the same cave exit and begins rushing towards Mort and the other lemurs. The three dodge the shark's advances, causing it to fly over the cliff edge and into the volcano. The shark is seen a final time in the credits, where it chases Mort down a waterfall. Once the two reach the bottom, Mort begins riding the shark.
Though the shark does show some relevance in the final act and climax of the movie, it mostly acts as a comedic foil to Mort.

Trivia[]
- The shark may also serve as a way to satirise the role that sharks play in horror movies, likely directly parodying Bruce from Jaws. The shark is portrayed as a blood thirsty killer that will do whatever it can to catch it's prey, a common but negligent trope in horror movies.
- He is the first villain of the Madagascar franchise who dies.
