Sharon Duffy is a secondary antagonist in Coronation Street, appearing in late 1972.

She was portrayed by the late Susan Littler.

Biography[]

Sharon was a barmaid at the Flying Horse who was romanced by Ray Langton. Taking advantage of the fact he and his partners Len Fairclough and Jerry Booth were renovating an expensive flat belonging to Benny Frazer, Ray lied to Sharon that the flat was his and entertained her there in the evenings, telling a number of cover stories to explain away a photo of Benny, her being unable to come to the flat while he was working on it and Jerry being at the flat when they turned up.

Sharon was on duty when a number of Rover Returns regulars visited for a pub olympics. Flying Horse regular Franny Slater recognised Jacko Ford among the Rovers crowd, calling him a right villain. Sharon retorted that it took one to know one but Franny replied that he'd never been caught. Sharon bragged to Franny about her rich boyfriend but Franny soon put her straight about who really owned the flat. Angry at being deceived, Sharon convinced Ray to lend her his key to the flat so she could cook for him, then gave it to Franny, who took a copy, planning to burgle it.

Sharon had hoped that Ray would get the blame but Franny convinced her it would be easier to frame Jacko, who he made sure had no alibi and would be found with money on him. Sharon gave Franny information on the flat's burglar alarm after visiting Ray there. Franny's plan went off without a hitch and he gave Sharon £1000 from the money he stole. Sharon quit her job, bought a lot of new clothes and slipped away to London to avoid the police investigation. Although the police eventually realised the truth, it is unknown whether they ever caught up with Sharon.
