Shax is a demon-marquis and a major antagonist in B.P.R.D.: The Soul of Venice.
Biography[]
Background[]
Shax was a high-ranking demon who held the rank of Marquis of Hell and commanded thirty legions of lesser demons. He also never liked Beelzebub. By appearance he looked like a humanoid-crane who carried a large sword.
B.P.R.D.: The Soul of Venice[]
Shax was summoned and bound by the Italian vampire Romulus Diovanni, who hoped to strike a bargain with the demon. The vampire would offer him the soul of Cloacina, the Roman goddess of canals and the patron deity of Venice whom he had captured, in exchange for power to rule the world. Shax himself was not impressed by the vampire, demanding to be released and even mocking the demon as a scavenger. Meanwhile Roger the Homunculus, a member of B.P.R.D., managed to release Cloacina, who in turn used her divine light to vaporize Diovanni to a pile of bones. One of these falling bones would break the binding seal and free Shax, who then asked Roger about if Hellboy, the son of Azzael, was with him. After hearing that Hellboy was not with Roger's unit, the demon departed for, but asked the homunculus to pass a greeting for the cambion.
Hellboy in Hell: The Spanish Bride[]
After the deaths of Satan and Astaroth, Hell fell into disarray, with many of the lesser demons killing their masters. Shax was one of them, being killed by his soldiers by the river Phlegethon, but two of his captains survived. These two later met a captain of Rumael, another demon-lord who was killed by his minions, and mourned the seeming end of Hell and death of other high-ranking demons, such as Usiel, Raum, Semyaza, Moloch, Belial and Dagon.
