Prepare for the world to be boot-scooted into a candlelit, televisionless, horse and buggy future
~ Sheriff Marshall

Sheriff Marshall is a villain from the YTV animated series, Sidekick. He is an old-timey Western sheriff, who hates modern technology and wants to send the world back to the good ol' days, using an old-fashioned Anachronotocron. He appeared in the episode "Ye Olde Sidekick Village".

Biography[]

In "Ye Olde Sidekick Village", the sidekicks went on a field trip to Ye Olde Sidekick Village, which was run by Sheriff Marshall, who welcomed them all to a town that represented the good ol' days. He also noted that here, no modern day technology would work, including cellphones, cameras, watches, and machines of any kind. This very quickly became a huge issue with the sidekicks as they all relied on their technology to live their lives.

Trevor waltzed around Ye Olde Sidekick Village, looking for a place to charge his phone and he ended up walking right into Sheriff Marshall's office, where he was locked in the hoosegow. Eric, Kitty, and Vana ran to the office to save him, only to get themselves locked up in the pokey as well. Sheriff Marshall demonstrated the powers of an old old-fashioned laser gun he called "The Anachronotocron", by zapping Eric's watch with it and turning it into a wooden cuckoo clock. The other sidekicks tried used their own futuristic weapons to stop him but Sheriff Marshall zapped all of those too. He turned Trevor's watch into a sundial, Vana's laser gun into a slingshot, and Kitty's automated utility backpack into a billfold of beans. Eric tried to call Maxum Brain for help, using his cellphone but Sheriff Marshall turned it into a phone booth and then a can on a string. Sheriff Marshall said this was fun and all but it was time he went off and plunge the entire world into a Western apocalypse and he left.

The sidekicks all used their old-timey technology to build a new contraption that would help them escape from their prison cell. However, their efforts proved completely fruitless as their invention was just a worthless hunk of broken wood and old rusty metal. Fortunately, Trevor was able to escape from the prison by simply walking through the door. As Trevor explained, the place was so old that the cage had gone rusty and fallen apart. This allowed the sidekicks to escape and face off against Sheriff Marshall.

Sheriff Marshall had a big steam-powered contraption that he called his Anachro-Super Blacker, which he was going to use to send a colossal anachro-blast across the circumference of the globe, mass-warping all technology back to the dark ages. The sidekicks arrived on the scene to stop him. Sheriff Marshall cursed himself for not rust-proofing the jail. However, he wasn't even remotely threatened by the sidekicks, knowing that there was nothing they could do to stop him. He took out his Anachronotocron and started blasting them and they all ran away like cowards. Sheriff Marshall chased them down and just kept shooting. First, he shot Eric's shoes, turning them into wooden clogs, causing him to trip and fall flat on his face. Eric got out of his shoes and climbed up on a 19th century velocipede to ride away. However, Sheriff Marshall blasted that and turned it into a cave bike with stone wheels that flipped the whole device over and crushed Eric.

The sidekicks all ran into a hall of mirrors and Sheriff Marshall chased them all inside. The sidekicks tried hiding but Sheriff Marshall eventually got them cornered. With nothing left to do, Eric jumped up and kicked one of his wooden shoes off, knocking Sheriff Marshall's Anachronotocron out of his hand. When it landed on the floor, it shot a laser into a mirror, which made it bounce back and hit him. The laser beam would keep bouncing off of mirrors and hitting him repeatedly, turning Sheriff Marshall into various older-era versions of himself, from a pirate, to a Roman emperor, to an Egyptian pharaoh, to a caveman, to an alien, and finally to a baby monkey, who ran his way right out of the building. With the downfall of Sheriff Marshall out of the way, all of the technology the curse of the old-fashioned stuff magically started working again and the sidekicks were able to use their phones again and go back to normal.

On the bus ride back to the school, Sheriff Marshall, in the form of a baby monkey, started happily using a cellphone, exhibiting that he had completely changed his ways.
