Shibai Ōtsutsuki is the overarching antagonist of the Boruto series. He was a member of the Ōtsutsuki Clan who achieved godhood and transcended beyond the physical plane of his body. Having abandoned his body behind, his corpse would later be harvested by Amado Sanzu, who would use it to grant the powers of Shibai onto the inner members of Kara.
Personality[]
Nothing is known about Shibai's personality, but he was power-hungry like the rest of his clan and did not care about the lives he took to achieve his transcendence.

Background[]
Shibai long ago entirely surpassed all limitations imposed by mortal life after continuing the Otsutsuki's path of repeatedly devouring Chakra Fruit. His people began to revere him for his power. Shibai evolved through multiple cycles before ascension to a higher dimension level, when he purposefully let go of his body.
Legacy[]
Over the many years, the Ōtsutsuki Clan would revere Shibai as a god amongst their kind and carry on his legacy by following similar pursuits in power and ascension. Most notably were Kaguya Ōtsutsuki and Isshiki Ōtsutsuki, who would be chosen to cultivate the God Tree on Earth and harvest the Chakra Fruit. This in turn led to Kaguya starting the foundation of the world into what it is now after eating earths Chakra Fruit, while Isshiki would go on to plot his return, after being betrayed by Kaguya.
Having abandoned his physical form, Amado eventually came across Shibai's body and used DNA transplantation to give most Kara members part of Shibai's Shinjutsu centuries later, though unlocking at least one is up to pure chance as none of the inner members (except for Code and eventually Koji Kashin) were able to awaken or use one.

- Shibai’s name is Japanese for Play or Drama.
- While all of Shibai jutsu's are classified as Shinjutsu with Omnipotence meaning "all powerful" and Ten Directions is the closest to Omniscience.
