Shigeo Ijuin (伊集院茂夫) is one of the main characters of the dark manga series On The Edge (also known as ヒューマンバグ大学_闇の漫画, The Human Bug University in Japanese).
He is a torture sommelier who helps victims by getting revenge on those who have done horrible things, working as a vigilante. However, Shigeo is a morally gray character as while he does kill criminals, he does have some sadistic glee of torturing said criminals.

Origins[]
According to the Videomanga, Shigeo lost his home and his family in young age because of a crime masterminded by someone with the name Gozen. During his homeless youth he was befriended with Chihaya Godai who became his informant and helped to find the perpetrators of Gozen's crime against Ijuins.
Some time later, he became the owner of a mansion with torture chambers in its basement and befriended with Takao Rukawa who became his assistant. He would also at times work with other Torture Sommeliers (like Emma, Himuro, Chihaya Godai, Rihei) to help him torture criminals as well.
Personality[]
Shigeo is a "torture sommelier" who executes evil people who have escaped the justice of the law. He is well versed in all forms of torture, both ancient and modern. He is very gentlemanly and merciful to his clients, but he shows no mercy to his tortured victims, even showing sadistic glee while torturing criminals.
According to Videomanga, he says that he realizes that all he's doing can even be considered as a crime against persons who do horrible acts, but has a reason to never regret any of his actions. He had his own codes. For example, he never let his clients in the torture chamber because he believed that doing that will brand them as a monster for the rest of their life as seen with Rukawa and Himuro. He always ask those criminals if they feel any remorse, which they usually never do. He always puts his personal feelings aside to deal with criminals for the sake of his clients. He does not like any criminals, who target the homeless, because he himself was once homeless, and they took him and treated him like family.
