The father of Shio and Asahi Kobe is one of the two overarching antagonists (alongside his own father) of the psychological horror manga Happy Sugar Life. He was the abusive husband of Yuuna Kōbe and the father of Shio and Asahi.

Biography[]

Little is known about his past except before the events of Happy Sugar Life, except that he came from an unloving family, with his dad a ruthless and manipulative businessman. In his youth, he raped his future wife Yuuna Kōbe after she had accidentally walked into him. As a result, he was made to marry her. He was a raging alcoholic who would use his family members to indulge in his hedonistic life style. He beat his wife and kids and was once known for once threatening to rip his son's fingernails off out of morbid interest at seeing how long he could endure the pain. Shortly after this, he forced Asahi to get him alcohol.

Sometime later, he was alerted that his father had died. Rather than being mournful for his late father, he was overjoyed by the news because he would inherit his father's riches. As such, he remorselessly leaves his wife and children. Around that time, Yuuna escaped her abusive husband with her daughter Shio. Unfortunately, she began took on her husband's abusive tendencies by smacking her for misbehaving and opting to lock her in the house. Eventually, this culminates in her abandoning her daughter in the street where Satō Matsuzaka discovers her and becomes "in love" with her. Yuuna was contemplating on taking Asahi with her, but she decides to leave him to the wrath of the patriarch of the Kobe family.

Death[]

Five years later, it is revealed that their father died from alcohol overdose, and Asahi celebrates this by doing the exact same thing that his father did when he learned that his father died.

Defeat (anime)[]

In episode 12, it is revealed that shortly after abandoning Shio, Yuuna returned to her husband's abusive household and secretly poisoned his drinks without him knowing, thus making her responsible for his death. However it also backfired on Yuuna which poisoned her, as she ran off, only to be possibly arrested.

Personality[]

As him being a abusive father, he's shown to have a short temper. He is also an alcoholic, who would usually neglect, abuse and endanger his children, and shows misogynistic views. Regarding his addiction, he possibly takes drugs off-screen. Kobe is extremely sadistic, since he enjoys raping Yuuna and torturing his son with no remorse. However, when Yuuna poisoned the drinks he never saw it coming and didn't bother to check or taste them, displaying carelesness.
