~ Spider-Man to Herman after capturing him. |
Shocker showed himself to be spooked by Mister Negative, attempting to get to him when being chased by Spider-Man. Unlike most of the villains Spider-Man faces, he has a somewhat positive relationship with him, as he once stated that they talked about science once. Despite this, Herman dislikes the superhero, stating he talks too much, as Spider-Man states that he has no emotions. In addition, he refused to attack Spider-Man during their chase, showing that he wants to pay the Inner Demons, and not hurt anyone.
Him not truly wanting to hurt people and being one of Spidey’s less deadly villains is reflected on in the sequel as upon learning of his death by the hands of Kraven, MJ comments that he was only a thief who didn’t do anything heinous enough to warrant being hunted down and murdered and even expressed sympathy towards him. A stark contrast to Scorpion's death, which people expressed mild shock over at best due to him being a remorseless serial killer.
Biography[]
Marvel's Spider-Man[]
Shocker first appears committing a robbery after being recently released from prison. While being chased by Spider-Man, Shocker accidentally gives away that he is committing crimes at the behest of someone who scares him. Spider-Man eventually catches up with Shocker and webs him up, leaving him for the police to take him back into custody.
Some time later, Shocker is broken out of jail once again by the same person forcing him to commit crimes, later revealed to be Mister Negative's gang, the Inner Demons. While robbing a bank, Shocker is confronted again by Spider-Man and, unable to run anywhere, fights him. After a very destructive fight, Spider-Man eventually defeats Shocker by overloading his gauntlets and making him crash a chandelier on himself. As Spider-Man flees, NYPD captain Yuri Watanabe calls him to congratulate him for recapturing Shocker, this time for good, but also tell him that someone will have to pay for all the damages.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2[]
A couple years after his imprisonment, he eventually escaped from the Raft and was out loose in the city, oblivious to the fact that along with every other villain and hero in the city, he'd been marked as prey by Kraven the Hunter for his last Great Hunt. Eventually, as revealed in an audio log that MJ finds while trying to rescue Dr. Conners that Kraven had hunted down and killed Shocker, while collecting his equipment as both trophies of his kill, and to help upgrade his hunters. Kraven admits that Shocker had put up a commendable fight, almost making Kraven believe that he'd lose. After hearing this MJ expressed sorrow at this revelation, stating that while a criminal, Shocker hadn't deserved death.
