General, find this rebel who calls himself "the Prince". He and his associates are to be arrested and executed. Use whatever resources you deem necessary.
~ Shogun ordering General to kill Shadow and his allies, and his first line.
Until Titan finds the way through the Gates, this is my realm, and I will not allow you to take it from me!
~ Shogun before fighting Shadow in Interlude.

Shogun is the main antagonist of Act VI: Iron Reign of Shadow Fight 2 and the secondary antagonist of the Old Wounds storyline in the game's special edition. He is the warlord of Ivory City, who also became its ruler after assassinating the previous ruler, the Prince. Before the events of Shadow Fight 2, he, alongside five other powerful fighters, was dragged into the Shadow World through the Gates of Shadows, created by the alien conqueror Titan. Here, he became a host of Titan's Shadow Demon, and was freed alongside other Shadow Demon Hosts after Shadow, an arrogant warrior, opened the Gates, which resulted in the latter losing his physical body and soul.

Before being dragged into the Shadow World, he was manipulated by a woman to overthrow the Prince and take over the Ivory City after she promised him the Sphere that will turn him into a great warlord. However, Prince managed to survive all his assassination attempts after stumbling into Sensei, who saved him from his kidnappers and unknowingly helped him to obtain the Sphere. Following this, the Prince brainwashed the warlord and tried to execute him before being stopped by his former companion.

After his release from the Shadow World, Shogun became the keeper of the jade demon seal, which, when combined with other demon seals, can open the Gates of Shadows. Shadow, in his quest to regain his body and soul, proceeded to defeat Shogun and his bodyguards, and claimed his seal. Shogun, alongside other Demons, returned when Shadow approached the Gates with all six Demon Seals, to stop him from opening it and unleashing Titan. Following Shadow's failed attempt to regain his body, Shogun and his bodyguards tried to stop Shadow once again, but failed, warning Shadow that the Ivory City is his until the arrival of Titan.

Appearance[]

Shogun is a traditional Japanese samurai, who is clad in a gilded black samurai armor, a helm, and a type of facial armour called a Men-yoroi. Like other Demon hosts, he has glowing white eyes.

During the events of Old Wounds, his armor is instead red and his face is shown, showcasing that he had well-groomed, black facial hair and normal eyes.

Personality[]

Shogun is an extremely aggressive and failure-intolerant warlord who wants to preserve his power at all costs, executing anyone who poses threat to his reign. He hates Shadow (whom he mistakes to be the Prince), saying that the Prince is an incompetent and greedy ruler who ruined the Ivory City. He is also extremely arrogant, believing himself to be invincible and being shocked that he was defeated by Shadow and saying that he and other Shadow Demon Hosts are the strongest warriors in this land. Furthermore, he has no honor & isn't a stranger to playing dirty, as he calls on his bodyguards to directly assist him. Unlike other Demon Hosts, he doesn't seem to be afraid of Titan because of his actions and powers, instead being afraid only because he poses a threat to his rule.

During the events of Old Wounds, his personality was never shown due to appearing in-person only when he was brainwashed by Prince. In his brainwashed state, he is incredibly arrogant and loyal to his master, stating that he will crush Sensei in a single blow.

Like Butcher, Shogun has significantly changed in Shades, having lost most of his bad qualities, save for his pride (which he says won't allow him to accept defeat which is why he says they will cross blades again), only visiting Shadow to verify it was him. He says he reinvented himself & left the ruined Ivory City.

Biography[]

Nothing is known about Shogun's past, except that he became the warlord of Ivory City and a servant of Prince.

Shadow Fight 2[]

Old Wounds[]

In an attempt to get revenge on Prince and rule over all men, Widow (Prince's former lover who was humilated and rejected by him) manipulates Shogun into assassinating Prince, promising him the Sphere created by the instability of the Gates of Shadows that grants great power if he will kill the Prince. However, unbeknownst to Shogun, this Sphere will also turn him into her loyal slave.

In an attempt to assassinate his former master, Shogun hires a bandit known as the Butcher to kidnap and kill the Prince. Due to luck, however, he escapes from the bandit, promising him money in exchange for the location of the Sphere. Prince also found out that his soldiers are trained by a certain Hermit.

Prince is not safe, however, because Hermit also hired a young assassin known as Lynx to kill him in exchange for Shogun's permission to train his men and save his school. However, Prince accidentally stumbles into Sensei, who saves him from Lynx and his enforcers and accompanies him in his quest to get revenge on Shogun, until Butcher reveals Prince's true colors to Sensei.

Part V: Humiliated and Insulted[]

After Sensei defeats Widow, she reveals that the Prince already took the Sphere from her. Shogun tried to stop him, but failed, with the Prince brainwashing him and taking him to the place where he and Widow first met to execute him.

Part VI: The Monster[]

Upon arriving, Sensei is greeted by the Haunted Prince, who tells him that Shogun is his loyal servant now. Shogun then attacks Sensei, saying that he will crush him in a single blow, before Sensei defeats him and his master.

Shogun, alongside other powerful warriors (Lynx, Hermit, Butcher, Wasp and Widow) was latter dragged into the Shadow World through the Gates of Shadows, where the Gates' creator, an intergalactic conqueror known as Titan, turned him and other captured warriors into hosts of the Shadow Demons.

Main Storyline[]

Act VI: Iron Reign[]

Shogun and other Demons were freed after the Gates were opened by Shadow, a powerful but arrogant warrior who wanted to find worthy opponent. This resulted in the latter losing his physical body and soul from the Shadow Energy Emissions.

In order to return his physical form, Shadow and his companions (his Sensei, a blacksmith May and a conman Sly), started to pursue the Demon Seals that can open the Gates again, with each of them belonging to a Demon, including Shogun.

Following his release, Shogun assassinates the Prince and takes over the Ivory City. Shogun then claimed that the Prince was killed by traitors (who were actually his conspirators) and executed them without a trial to get rid of any suspicion.

Upon arriving to Ivory City, May notices that the City is burning, with Sensei replying that the realm is full of illusions due to being located close to the Gates of Shadows. They are then spotted by a Corporal, who tells them to drop their weapons and promises a swift and painless death. Defeated, he mistakes Shadow for the Prince and tells his troops to fall back, with the Sly suggesting Shadow to play along. Corporal then tells the Captain about it. Thinking it's a beggar, Captain attempts to kill Shadow, but is defeated, begging 'the Prince' to spare his life.

They are then attacked by a Major, who tells Shadow he will pay for impersonating his master. However, he is defeated and begs him to forgive him for doubting his identity, saying that he is a threat to his power and that it would be better for 'the Prince' to leave this city.

Afterwards, they are attacked by Shogun's Colonel, who says that he should never have returned and that his former subjects will never submit to him after what he did. Defeated, he then tells that Shogun knows he is here and will stop him.

Shogun the appears for the first time, ordering his General to use whatever resources they have to kill a rebel who claims to be the Prince and his associates. General then orders his best Mercenaries to kill Shadow, before he defeats them and the General himself.

Shadow then fights Shogun, who says he is only a shadow of the Prince he knew. Defeated, Shogun refuses to believe he was defeated, and Shadow claims his Jade Seal.

Gates of Shadows[]

Shogun, alongside his fellow Demons, returns at the end of the Act, trying to prevent Shadow from opening the Gates and locking them away again. They lose to Shadow again however, but Shadow didn't succeed in his goals, instead losing May after she was dragged into the Shadow World.

Interlude[]

Shogun and his bodyguards once again appear in Act VI, serving as the sixth and final boss rush of the Interlude. This time, Shogun fights for good cause, as he doesn't want Shadow to re-open the Gates and unleash Titan. Before the fight, he tells Shadow that until Titan arrives to this world, the Ivory City is his. After being defeated, he asks Shadow why he hastens his demise, before telling him to enjoy what little time his world has before Titan dooms everyone.

Act VII: Revelation[]

Alternate reality version of Shogun was mentioned by Emperor, Shadow's alternate reality variant and Titan's fifth and final bodyguard. He claims that he conquered the Ivory City after he killed Shogun.

Shogun, alongside other Shadow Demon Hosts, was freed from his Shadow Demon following Titan's death.

Shadow Fight: Shades[]

After Shadow defeats Captain in Shades, he encounters Shogun, who just wants to verify Shadow's identity. He says that he reinvented himself & left Ivory City's ruins behind, but claims that he & Shadow will "cross blades again" as he doesn't accept defeat.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Combat prowess: Shogun is a very skilled fighter, being capable of putting up a good fight to Sensei and Shadow.

  • Summoning: His unique Shadow Demon ability. It allows him to summon one of his bodyguards (Except Major).

Equipment[]

  • Shogun's Katana: Shogun's melee weapon. It is a pair of weapons consisting of Katana and Wakizashi and enchanted with Overheat.

  • Shogun promote his Soldier, Corporal to Lieutenant because he protected him in all cost.
  • Shogun is the only demon boss in Shadow Fight 2 to not be a boss or have bodyguards in the Special Edition's Old Wounds. He appears instead as the Prince's bodyguard.
    • Due to this, he is also the only demon boss in the game to be fought as a bodyguard in any storyline in SF2.
