The Shooter is a minor but legendary antagonist in the James Bond films. He is an unseen man holding a gun at Bond, before Bond spins around and fires a shot that kills the man, with blood soaking the camera.
Homages[]
The Shooter has been homaged many times in popular media such as the Simpsons, Spongebob, Garfield and Teen Titans Go. M16 itself, which had previously distanced itself from the Bond franchise, released a Christmas card that featured Santa pointing his candy cane at the camera in a reference to the iconic Intro. Even the Bond films themselves have homaged this, with Casino Royale incorporating the intro into part of its story, having the shooter be Fisher. However, due to the Bond films’ flimsy continuity and the fact that the sequence is repeated multiple times across the instalments even after Fisher’s death, the shooter and Fisher remain separate characters. The Shooter himself was inspired by the gun fired at the end of The Great Train Robbery.
