Shruti Chambal was a supporting antagonist in season six and seven of Orange is the New Black.
She was an inmate at Litchfield Maximum Security Penitentiary, and a member of Carol Denning's group.
She was portrayed by Reema Sampat.
Personality[]
Shruti is implied to be very intelligent and ambitious. She has an interest in practising self-help, and has shown an an aversion toward procrastination. She seems to enjoy reading and Tae Bo.
Physical appearance[]
Shruti has long black hair. She has light-brown skin and brown eyes. Her hair is cut shorter in season seven. She is only seen in the navy-blue C-Block uniform.

Background[]
Not much is known about Shruti's background, other than that she was born and raised in Maine. She also was studying to become an ENT surgeon before being incarcerated. It is unknown what her crime was.
Orange is the New Black[]
Shruti is the assigned roommate to Dayanara Diaz and Gloria Mednoza. Shruti intimidates Gloria and Daya the second they move in as the leader of her group, Carol Denning, does not want to be associated with inmates working in janitorial, and accuses Dayanara of stealing her shampoo. Shruti also discovers Nicky Nichols attempting to impregnate Blanca Flores, and is implied to have beaten them up for doing so.
Shruti shows a potential disloyalty to Madison Murphy after she is selected to be on the kickball team by voting for Piper Chapman to be captain. Shruti later refuses to let Gloria and Blanca sit down, claiming that her spirit animals have taken the seat. Shruti and Charlene Teng are complicit in Murphy's attempt to block Chapman's release by giving Greg Hellman oral sex.
Shruti later participates in the block war, where she brings a shiv to the kickball game set for the attack. After Maria Ruiz convinces CO Bambi McCullough to reselect the teams, Shruti is selected by Murphy. The war begins despite Maria's efforts, but is stopped when Nicole Eckelcamp catches the ball, scoring a point and continuing the game.
Shruti is shown to be involved in the contraband ring, offering Creech a cigarette. She takes on a reduced role in season seven.
