The Shuten Douji Brothers are two incredibly powerful Youkai of the Youkai Army Corps serving Gashadokuro that served as minor antagonists in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger. They were the main antagonists of the 15th and 16th episodes and consisted of an older orange one and his younger blue brother.
The elder brother is voiced by Takeshi Watabe who previously voiced Emperor Aton in Kagaku Sentai Dynaman and Lagorn in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger. The younger brother is voiced by Ittoku Yamanaka previously voiced Oni Boma in Kousoku Sentai Turboranger, the Vulturenoid in The Mobile Cop Jiban and later voiced Bara Boxer in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger.

Past[]
The Shuten Douji Brothers first came to be when humanity's negative emotions physically manifested and formed thier own group under the leadership of the most powerful of thier kind; Daimaou. Thousands of years ago, the Shuten Douji Brothers slaughtered 100 Youkai in a drunken rage so were imprisoned under the Youkai Mansion where they were kept under constant guard. Due to being in prison, they were among the Yokai who managed to avoid being sealed behind the Seal Door by the Ancient Kakurangers.
Kakuranger[]
In 1994, Kappa unleashes the Yo Power from behind the Seal Door but, due to thier crimes, the Shuten Douji Brothers remain in prison.
After the death of Keukegen, Gashadokuro begins to treat the Kakurangers as a credible threat and decides to deal with them quickly. As such, he goes into the Youkai Mansion's dungeons and promises the two imprisoned Youkai thier freedom if they can kill the Kakurangers. To aid them, he sends the Flowery Kunochi Team to help them in the Wandering Forest. The ninja are able to lure the Kakurangers into a forest where the Shuten Douji Brothers lie in wait, use special cat nip to make Nekomaru abandon them, and separate the Kakurangers to be taken out individually by the twin Youkai. After the Kunochi capture Seikai and Tsuruhime, the Shuten Douji Brothers ambush Saizou who they swiftly overwhelm and decimate with thier United Blade attack. Defeated, Saizou attempts to use his KakuLaser but it is ineffective so he attacks with his Art of the Waterspout attack which manages to knock them down. However, the Kunochi hold Tsuruhime hostage and force him to drop his weapons which allows the Shuten Douji to defeat and capture him.
Taking up residence in an abandoned cottage in the forest, the Brothers enjoy a round of sake before Ayame orders them to take out Sasuke and Jiraya as well which they happily accept as they want to drink thier blood as sake. After the Kunochi separate Jiraya from Sasuke, the Shuten Douji ambush him and overwhelm him. When he attempts to use his Rocky Abyss attack on them though, they send it back at him and the Kunochi prevent Sasuke from intervening before the Shuten Douji take him back to the cottage. The Shuten Douji are disgusted to hear that they lost Sasuke and are berated by Junior when he arrives before being denied thier freedom but Professor Yugami promises to give them a new weapon to kill the Kakurangers. When Junior leaves, the Brothers get extremely drunk which allows Sasuke (hiding in the vents above) to pass the other Kakurangers a file to free themselves with.
When the Kunochi return from another search, Sasuke's voice booms from around them which lures them outside long enough for his friends to escape. They then morph and fight the Shuten Douji and Kunochil, Sasuke fighting and being defeated by the Brothers so he uses his Art of the Flaming Wheel against them just to have it reflected. When they perform thier United Blade attack though, he splits using his Art of Doppelganger technique. Doing so renders thier signature attack useless due to having too many targets and they are defeated by Sasuke's Doppelganger United Blade before he defeats them with his Full Moon Slash. Enraged, the Shuten Douji Brothers enlarge so they summon the Beast General Fighters. When they do though, Professor Yugami equips them with the previously promised upgrade; thick metal armour equipped with a saw and a drill, With the new weaponry, the Shuten Douji Brothers defeat the General Fighters with God Simidar being restrained so that the elder brother can finish it off. Before he can though, it breaks free and he accidentally stabs his brother with his drill which allows the Kakurangers to summon Muteki Shogun]. The Shuten Douji Brothers charge but are immediately killed by the Blazing Shogun Sword.
The Shuten Douji Brothers are recalled by the Announcer whilst recapping the Kakurangers' war against the Yokai during his feature on the Kakurangers.
The Shuten Douji Brothers are seen, along with all the other defeated Yokai, behind the Seal Door after thier master Daimaou is finally sealed away by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they are now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vow that they will one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity.
Personalities[]
The Shuten Douji Brothers were among the evilest Youkai; ruthless assassins that killed anyone they chose when drunk. The two of them were so ruthless that all other Youkai (besides Junior, the Flowery Kunochi Team and presumably Daimaou) were terrified to be anywhere near them. They were not loyal to Junior since they only served him to earn thier freedom although they appreciated getting the chance to kill the Kakurangers and drink thier blood and were willing to work with the Flowery Kunochi Team to get the job done.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Power: The Shuten Douji Brothers were two of the most powerful Youkai, apparently slaughtering 100 Youkai whilst drunk in the past and more than being a match for both the individual Kakurangers and thier Beast General Fighters.
- Strength: The Shuten Douji Brothers could take down Kakurangers with single slashes and knock down Saizou with a light shove from thier swords. They could easily grab and throw Kakurangers by the throat and the younger brother restrained Red Simidar with ease with giant.
- Durability: The Shuten Douji Brothers were repeatedly shot by Saizou's KakuLaser and hit by his Waterspout attack but were completely unfazed. Even Sasuke's signature Full Moon Slash did little more than knock them over.
- Armour: After being upgraded by Professor Yugami, the Shuten Douji Brothers wore thick plated armour that was immune to the Beast General Fighters' kicks and punches.
- Longevity: The Shuten Douji Brothers survived for at least six thousand years with no side effects.
- Weapons Combat: The Shuten Douji Brothers were master fighters, able to individually defeat all five Kakurangers and the Beast General Fighters.
- United Blade: The Shuten Douji Brothers' signature attack. The blue brother would jump onto the orange one's shoulders before front flipping with orange jumping behind him. Orange would then slash the enemy on the shoulder with blue striking them on the waist which would send them flying.
- Energy Streak Strike: The Shuten Douji Brothers could turn into blue and yellow energy tornadoes to harass Saizou.
- Gliding: As seen during thier fight with Saizou, the Shuten Douji Brothers could glide through the air.
- Fire Breath: The elder Shuten Douji Brother could take a swig of sake and then breath hot orange flames over his enemies. A single puff of this instantly demorphed Saizou.
- Instant Teleportation: The younger Shuten Douji Brother was able to instantly teleport around the battlefield quickly enough to avoid Jiraya's katana.
- Revenge: The Shuten Doji Brothers were able to counter any Ninja Art technique just by saying "*ninja style* revenge" which would send the attack straight back at the enemy and strike them down.
- Yokai Lightning Cloud Summoning: The Shuten Douji Brothers were able to summon the Yokai Lightning Cloud to enlarge them with its Yo Power.
- Agility: The younger Shuten Douji Brother was fast enough to duck a swing from God Logan.
Weaknesses[]
- Multiple Targets: The Shuten Douji Brothers' signature attack relied on only having to fight one target. When Sasuke used his Art of Duplication multiple times, it was rendered useless since they didn't know which to attack.

- Swords: The Shuten Douji Brothers wielded long blue-silver swords in combat.
- Drill Arm: After being upgraded by Professor Yugami, the orange Shuten Douji Brother was equipped with a drill arm. He could use it to slash his enemies or bore into them.
- Saw Arm: After being upgraded by Professor Yugami, the blue Shuten Douji Brother was equipped with a saw attachment with which he could slash his enemies.

Trivia[]
- In mythology, the Shuten-dōji are among the three most feared Youkai (the other two being Tamamo no Mae and Sutoku Tennō). According to legend, during the reign of Emperor Ichijō (986–1011), a large number of missing people were being reported in the capital city of Kyoto most of which were young women. The culprits were the Shuten-dōji who used them for slave labour before slaughtering the girls, eating their flesh and drinking their blood. A group of heroes later found the killed them but thier heads were still alive.
