Sigma is a major antagonist in the Archie Comics' series of Mega Man, being the main antagonist of the Dawn of X and the crossover comic Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man: Worlds Unite. This version of Sigma, much like his canon counterpart, was the leader of the Maverick Hunters a group of people tasked with hunting down rogue reploids. Sigma, however, would grow to believe the reploids are superior to humans and sought to wipe them all out to create a world where reploids reigned supreme.
After being defeated he was turned into a computer virus and now sought to conquer the entire multiverse so that he could reign supreme over everything.
History[]
Dawn of X[]
Sigma in the past was a hero and the leader of the Maverick Hunters. After a while of fighting, he would start to see Repliods as superior to humans, he would eventually becomes the leader of the Mavericks. He and his forces would stage an attack on Arcadia City proceeding to bomb the place enough to leave it in flames, and have his forces kill off various Maverick Hunters who refused to join Sigma. He was defeated by X and turned into a computer virus.
Sonic the Hedgehog/Mega Man: Worlds Unite[]
During the events of the comic, The hunters would attack Sigma’s fortress to finish him off. Sigma was able to escape just in time though to Sonic’s world. While there he forces Dr. Eggman, and the Deadly Six to help him in his plans, Sigma would force Dr. Eggman to create a brand new body for him. Sigma then captures Dr. Wily and forces him to work for him. Sigma sets his plan into action where he would use the Unity Engines that Sigma intends to use to harness the power of entire worlds. Sigma does all of this as part of his desire to become a god and rule over the multiverse, not caring that his doing this is putting the entire multiverse at risk.
Sigma does eventually recognize that the doctors are scheming against him though planning to send Sonic and Mega Man after Sigma. Sigma in retaliation sends the Deadly Six after. By this point, Sigma has already used the tech of the Doctors to build himself a massive army of robots to serve him. Sigma would gain more and more power from absorbing multiple worlds and eventually gained enough power to resurrect his fallen servants to assist him further in his plans as Sigma grows more and more powerful.
Sigma would eventually gain enough power that he was hours away from victory. At this point, he also destroyed Sky Patrol to prevent the heroes from getting involved. Sigma is eventually defeated thanks to the combined efforts of the heroes. By that point, though it is too late as Sigma has done so much damage to reality that Xander is forced to open up a portal and defeats Sigma in the past thus preventing the events of this crossover from happening and erasing Sigma from existence.
