Silver Sable International are the international private arms led by Silver Sable which was hired by Norman Osborn to protect him against the threat of the Inner Demons. They are major antagonists in the 2018 video game Marvel's Spider-Man and supporting characters in its DLC, The City That Never Sleeps.

History[]

Past[]

Sable International is closely tied to the Sablinova Family, the ruling dynasty of the Eastern European country of Symkaria. Silver Sable's grandfather fought against the Nazis during World War II and fearlessly defended them until their defeat. After WW2, he decided to put his skills to new use and formed Sable International as extremely skilled mercenaries for hire which initially composed entirely of Smykarian war veterans. By 2018, Sable International composed of the world's most skilled mercenaries from an assortment of nationalities and backgrounds sporting futuristic weaponry.

Marvel's Spider-Man[]

During the Inner Demons' attack on Manhattan, Mayor Osborn hires Sable International in order to bolster the police department which is understaffed, although their primary focus is to protect the mayor and his assets from the Demons. In the aftermath of the City Hall Bombing, Sable International attack Spider-Man at a Demon staging area and Silver Sable only spares him due to Yuri Wattnabe intervening. Despite this, Sable is initially on neutral terms with Spider-Man despite establishing checkpoints across New York and they are even later the ways to escort Mister Negative to the RAFT after his capture.

However, after New York falls into chaos after the massive breakouts at the RAFT and Rykers as well as the subsequent release of the Devil's Breath, Mayor Osborn views Spider-Man as a threat and blames him for it, making him the "priority target" of the mercenaries. The city quickly falls into martial law under the jurisdiction of Sable International while the city also fell in quarantine. According to Yuri, the captain of the police department, some of Sable's men become abusive, with some invading the lot of other residents, leaving them homeless and imprisoning those who protest against them. Even some of them are stealing and robbing the imprisoned residents which Sable overlooked. They continually come into conflict with Spider-Man when he attacks their Sable Bases and random ambush posts during the campaign against the Sinister Six.

After the defeat of Doctor Octopus and the Sinister Six, the quarantine is lifted and Mayor Osborn resigns as a mayor in disgrace. Although Silver Sable returns to Symkaria for self-reflection, many of her Agents remain to settle the score with Spider-Man but all are eventually defeated and brought to justice.

The City That Never Sleeps[]

Hammerhead and his gang steal supplies of Sable International gadgets and weapons, preparing them for the upcoming war against the other Maggia families. One of these includes a defunct project of the blueprint known as "Project Olympus." Sable attempts to retrieve her mercenaries' stolen assets, but she is kidnapped by Hammerhead's men to be interrogated. Spider-Man saves her and makes a temporary truce to defeat Hammerhead for good.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales[]

Sable International is a mentioned faction in one of Peter Parker and Mary Jane's trips to Symkaria at the Daily Bugle.

Organisation[]

Sable International is encountered as enemies in the game. Most of them plays similarly to previously-encountered enemies. They are difficult adversaries thanks to their sturdy armor protecting them against most of Spider-Man's attacks. Nearly all of them are encountered in Sable Outposts which awards "Base Tokens" upon disposing of. Some Sable International enemies are armed with red-energy weapons that can disable Spider-Man's gadgets temporarily. Additionally, Sable International have armored trucks which are mounted with a turret that can also fire capture bolas. It can be destroyed by web-slinging on it and throwing it against the enemies like most interactable objects.
