Silvercross Alpha is a minor antagonist in the light novel series A Certain Magical Index: New Testament, serving as the secondary antagonist of the Freshmen Arc.
He is a member of the Freshmen, a criminal organization belonging to the dark side of Academy City. He has a large collection of powered suits and aids Umidori Kuroyoru in her plans to eliminate the graduates.
He is voiced by Kōhei Amasaki.
Appearance[]
Silvercross is described as a handsome looking man with long hair and a graceful voice. Originally, Silvercross had his face burned as a punishment for unknown reasons. After doing various jobs for Academy City, he eventually regained his former face.
In the mobile game Imaginary Fest, Silvercross is depicted wearing a brown and grey Powered Suit.
Personality[]
Silvercross has a distorted sense of self, having no aesthetics towards his own body, because of the disgrace he felt from his face being burned off. He is quite sadistic and ruthless, willing to chase after and harm a defenseless little girl in order to achieve his goals. Like Umidori, he holds great hatred towards the "graduates" of the dark side, such as Shiage Hamazura and Accelerator. He refers to his powered suit reserves as "my collection" and seems to be quite fond of them, even to the point of pointing out when someone uses or touches his collection without his permission.
He is shown to be pretty adaptable in order to properly make the most out of his powered suits; for example in order to fight in a 4-legged suit he needed the mindset of a 4-legged animal, in order to pilot an 8-legged suit he needed to become an 8-legged animal. He's described as someone who uses the right tools for the right job instead of reusing the same weapons over and over again. His habit of switching between numerous powered suits was largely due to the fact that he had arranged his mind so he held no attachment to his outer appearance.
However, in the end, Silvercross is nothing more than a coward, as he was willing to abandon his mission when he found himself outmatched by Shiage and even tried to hold Fremea Seivelun hostage in a desperate final move.
Biography[]
Not much is known about Silvercross Alpha, however, what is known is that he was punished under unclear circumstances. After doing various "jobs" for Academy City, he eventually became affiliated with the organization known as "Freshmen" and served under Umidori Kuroyoru.
