Sim Jae-seok (심재석 Sim Jae-seog) also referred to as Player 343, is a supporting antagonist in the Netflix's K-drama Squid Game. He is a civilian who had ₩2.89 billion to pay off in debt. This resulted in him joining the 2024 Squid Game to win money.

Biography[]

Sim Jae-Seok had ₩2.89 billion debt and chose to join Squid Games in order to win a lot of money to pay it off. He managed to reach the finish line and survive the Red Light, Green Light and Six-Legged Pentathlon, where he played Spinning Top by helping with Player 009, Player 197, Park Gyeong-seok and Player 140. After the second game passed, he was upset at the final prize money amount. He knew that the total money earned from the two games wasn't enough. He decided to continue the games to get more additional money prize.

Jae-Seok managed to survive 5 rounds of the third game, Mingle. When it's announced that 2 players are required per room, Jae-Seok decides to help Player 285. He and Player 285 run to Room 33. Jae-seok manages to enter the room, but Hwang In-ho (Player 001) grabs Player 285 and tells Park Jung-bae (Player 390) to get inside the room while In-Ho throws Player 285 to the floor. Upon entering, Jung-Bae discovers that Jae-Seok is inside the room, In-ho enters the room, sees Jae-seok and tells him to get out but Jae-seok declares that he and 285 arrived first. In-ho grabs Jae-seok, pulls him into a corner and begins to strangle him, while Jung-bae keeps the door closed to leave 285 outside. With 2 seconds left, In-ho mercilessly breaks Jae-seok's neck to make it that there're only 2 players in the room, leaving Jung-bae horrified to see In-ho commit such an atrocity.

Personality[]

He is shown to be more greedy as he is willing to get more money. He has no problem agitating the other players as he vote O and make everyone to continue the game.
