Simone Duret, mostly referred to as Madame Duret, is the main antagonist of the 2018 supernatural horror film Down a Dark Hall.
She was portrayed by Uma Thurman, who also played Poison Ivy in Batman & Robin and Medusa in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Biography[]
Madame Duret is the headmistress of Blackwood Boarding School. She scouts for five girls with behavior problems (who happen to be Kit, Izzy, Veronica, Sierra, and Ashley) and convinces their parents to enroll them into the boarding school. When they arrive, she informs them that she plans to correct their behaviors. Contrary to this statement, her true plan is to possess them with the spirits of deceased artists and geniuses so that the spirits can finish what they were in the middle of working on when they were alive. At first, she tries to make it seem like the boarding school is improving the hidden talents of the five girls, but once Kit discovers her actual intentions, Madame Duret openly gloats about her true plans.
Unfortunately, this plan eventually causes the deaths of Izzy, Ashley, and Sierra. When Kit saves a zombified Veronica with fire, the entire building burns down, and Duret is attacked and zombified by the spirits who were roaming around in the boarding school before being burned to death.
