Queen Sindel is the secondary antagonist of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, based on the video-game character of the same name.
She was portrayed by South African actress-model Musetta Vander.
Biography[]
Sindel was the Queen of the realm of Edenia and the mother of Princess Kitana. When Emperor of Outworld Shao Kahn invaded and conquered Edenia, he murdered both Sindel and her husband the King of the realm. He then went on to adopt their daughter Kitana, who served him but secretely plotted against him for centuries. Kitana mentioned her mother while explaining to Liu Kang and Johnny Cage what happened to Edenia. Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung in the final battle of Mortal Kombat shortly after, preventing Shao Kahn from conquering the Earthrealm. However, that wasn't the case as Shao Kahn and his forces managed to open a portal and invade Earthrealm. Kahn with the help of his father Shinnok, resurrected Sindel and used her in order to break the sacred rules of the Elder gods. Sindel was corrupted and was willing to serve Kahn as well as kill his own daughter with no hesitation.
After Shao Kahn killed his top General Rain, he replaced him with Queen Sindel despite his other Generals such as Motaro, Sheeva and Ermac asking to succeed him. Sindel went on to hunt the Earthrealm warriors led by Raiden and Liu Kang, and with the help of Jade she managed to ambush them. Sindel managed to blast Raiden away but was no match for their combined forces so she retreated along with Jade. Shao Kahn reprimanded them both for their failure with Sindel telling him that they would have died if they had stayed. Kahn reminded her that she was technically already dead and after killing Jade, he warned her that he would feed her rotting corpse to the worms if she fails him again. Motaro laughed at her failure, as that could be his chance of becoming the next General, causing Sindel to slap him. Soon, Liu Kang and the rest of fighters arrived for the final battle with Sindel taking on her daughter. Despite gaining the advantage initially, Sindel was soon overpowered by Kitana. After Kahn's defeat and death at the hands of Liu Kang, the Elder Gods intervened and after punishing Shinnok, they resurrected Sindel along with Raiden and others. Sindel was her old true self once again and hugs her daughter; she joins the rest of the heroes as they all return home.
