“ | It's nearly time. | „ |
~ Singed's most famous quote. |
“ | Procured a cutthroat hiding among the populace and feigning civility. Only a disciplined eye could recognize the beast within, yearning for release. How could I refuse? For what is my work if not an attempt to reveal life's hidden truths through science? | „ |
~ Singed in "Engineering the Nightmare" |
“ | Disappointing. Perhaps three years is still too remote a negative outcome for you, Thinker. Let me make it more compelling—in your weakened state, you’ll likely suffer multiple fractures each time I apply this negative stimulus. Within four more applications, I’d expect you’d be classifiable as only minimally mobile, and face down in the water, you’ll very slowly drown. From previous observations, I’m led to believe it will be quite excruciating. | „ |

Biography[]
Early life[]
Singed was always a gifted child that due to his talents would pursue work at Piltover Academy. Despite his success there Singed would become an outspoken critic of Hextech, believing Magic to be crutch that would prevent true understanding of science which had him focus all his talents into that of Alchemy. Despite his success in this field he would be met with scorn from his colleagues and would be forced out of the university, forcing Singed to retreate to the undercity of Zaun.
Singed would then offer his services in the undercity to morally questionable clients with his work taking an unethical turn as he had begun experimenting on animals and humans to the point, he had been fusing the two together. His obsession with his work overtaking him Singed would even augment his own body to keep himself alert at all times despite the cost to his body. Singed would even taking turn to supplying his research for warfare for Piltover, Zaun, and even Noxus conquests as long as they supplied his needs.
Role in other stories[]
Noxian Invasion of Ionia[]
When Noxian invasions led by the mad emperor Boram Darkwill turned out to be useless against Ionian defenders and her general Irelia, Noxian warmasons decided to put an end to the bitter stalemate with the help of genocidal weapons. The history of the Zaunite alchemist reached the ears of the Noxian military commander Emystan, who sought to use Singed's knowledge to win the war. She hired Singed to develop a powerful weapon to bend the opponent to their knees, and Singed poured all of his intellect and knowledge in developing it. The result was a horrid artifact filled with alchemical liquified fire that proved to be extremely volatile and unstable. They sought to use it against the Ionians to aid Riven's warband in Navori, but the results were so horrendous that the explosions killed both Ionians and Noxians in battle. The chemicals poured from the explosions eroded the land, transforming it into a desolate wasteland. When the Noxians realized that Wuju masters (led by Master Yi) were a threat to Noxian war effort, they tracked down their village and used the same chemical fire to decimate them, transforming it on a ghost town were Yi was the only survivor. The results horrified many of the Noxians themselves, but as promised, Singed was paid a small fortune for his weapons.
The Host[]
As part of his experiments Singed would kidnap two men, Hadri Spillwether and Palo. He would physically augmented Palo calling him "Breaker" and would implant a parasite into Hadri calling him "Thinker" He would lock the two in a glass cage, questioning Hadri about his life and torturing him by spraying cold water on him every time he refused to answer. Ignoring Hadri's attempts to ask for mercy Singed tell him to fuse with "Breaker" or he will ensure he slowly drowns to death. This would result in Hadri fusing with Palo and two escaping though their minds would be confused due the fusion. Singed would track them down and question the two about their lives and upon seeing their confusion simply dismissed them as a failure and when attacked by them gassed them causing them to start slowly dying. Hadri upon death recognized Singed from Piltover Academy causing Singed to be intrigued. Regarding him as more "helpful" than Thinker 2 Singed would depart leaving the two to die on the street.
"Engineering the Nightmare"[]
This story is presented in the form of research notes, detailing the creation of Warwick. Singed's goal was to release the inner beast of men through the use of Chemtech and transform them into a chimeric predator. To achieve this, he had to find a valuable subject with a tough personality and high pain endurance to resist the high pain that Singed believed would be the catalyst of transmutation. Many people were captured by Singed and subdued to horrifying nights of never-ending torture, all of them resulted in failures. The number of failed subjects was so high that Singed had to use Zaun's Sump as his personal common pit, with deformed bodies piling up day by day. Singed would finally find his most valuable subject, an ex-thug that possessed a high tolerance to pain. After many nights of drilling his bones, amputate his limbs and filling him with chemicals, Warwick would be the subject with the most close transmutation of all, but after escaping his restrains and trying to attack Singed, he finally perished to his wounds. A pity for Singed, Warwick ended up at the Sump along with the other bodies, but it wasn't pain what was needed for the transmutation, but death. Warwick arose again as a chimeric mechanically modified beast with the shape of a wolf, fox tail and bat ears, which meant that Singed's experiment was successful.
Personality[]
Cunning, cold, and apathetic, Singed can perform the most sickening and inhuman acts without any show of remorse or discomfort. Lurking in the shadows of Zaun, Singed is extremely intelligent, patient, and secretive, and is shown to be willing to work with any side if he believes it could fund or further his experiments. His scientific genius, combined with his cold determination and complete lack of ethics, makes him one of the most dangerous figures in all of Runeterra, gaining him notoriety among the Chem-Barons and Noxians alike.
Only caring for his research Singed shows no regard for those he experiments on beyond what they can offer for his research as shown when he ignored Warwick's claims that he had changed and dismissing his horrific torture of Warwick as "a necessary catalyst". He would show this side further by torturing Hadri Spillwether every time he refused to cooperate and heartlessly telling him how he will drown if he doesn't cooperate making sure to tell him that it will be a painful experience.
Singed is also shown to value only the purest sense, strongly loathing Hextech, believing it to be a crutch that got in the way of true scientific discovery.

Trivia[]
- Singed's name is an anagram for the word design, a nod of how he was one of the first champions to be designed.
- In the original lore, Warwick was the more evil of the two while Singed was his minion. After the rework, Singed was retconned into becoming the sociopathic scientist that he is known as today, and Warwick being his test subject.
- Singed is stated to be the one responsible for developing chemical weapons of mass destruction for Noxus, which would later be used in their invasion of Ionia. His chemtech inventions would therefore make him responsible for the backstories of numerous champions, including Master Yi, Riven, Irelia, Yasuo, Yone, and others.
- In his lore, Singed is stated to regard Hextech with a certain disgust, believing chemtech to be superior. This differs from his portrayal in Arcane, where he expresses a deep fascination in Viktor's invention of the Hexcore and even offers to help him complete his work.
