~ Doctor Octopus introduces the first incarnation of the Sinister Six to Spider-Man.
The Sinister Six, also known as the Superior Sinister Six or Sinister Seven, are major antagonists in the UltimateSpider-Man animated series.
They are team of formidable supervillains, primarily organized by Doctor Octopus to defeat their shared nemesis, Spider-Man. Their plans often involve advanced technology, sometimes stolen from Oscorp, and the unwilling recruitment or mind-control of other characters, such as the Lizard (Dr. Curt Connors), Rhino and Vulture. The group's roster and technology evolve over the course of the series, especially during the final season titled Ultimate Spider-Man vs. the Sinister 6.
In the episode "Sinister Six", Doctor Octopus gathers several villains who have individually struggled against Spider-Man, arguing that together they can succeed. The group initially consists of Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Rhino, and Beetle. For the group's sixth member, Dr. Curt Connors is unwilling transformed into the Lizard and placed under Octavius' control.
Coming together in Doctor Octopus' underwater lab in the Hudson River, the Sinister Six ambush Spider-Man. During a dispute within the group, Lizard attacks Kraven as Spider-Man tricks Rhino into flooding Doctor Octopus' lab. Spider-Man retreats to the Statue of Liberty as the Sinister Six follows. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Trainees (Power Man, Iron Fist, White Tiger, and Nova) arrives to help fight the Sinister Six. Lizard escapes into the sewers as the rest of the Sinister Six are arrested.
In the penultimate episode "Return of the Sinister Six", Doctor Octopus reassembles the Sinister Six with the Scorpion now placing the Beetle (who left the team to pursue more profitable freelance work). He uses stolen OsCorp tech to invade Ryker's Island to equip Lizard, Electro, Rhino, Kraven, and Scorpion with armor. The armored Sinister Six battle Spider-Man, the S.H.I.E.L.D., and Norman Osborn in the Iron Patriot armor. When the villains combine their attacks to take down Iron Patriot, Doctor Octopus injects Norman with the Goblin serum turning him back into the Green Goblin, while Spider-Man restores Lizard back to Connors. Though Spider-Man wins against the Sinister Six, the Green Goblin gets away with Spider-Man's team.
Season 3[]
In the episode "New Warriors", Green Goblin leads several members of the Sinister Six (Doc Ock, Beetle, and Scorpion) during an attempted prison break on-board the S.H.I.E.L.D. Tri-Carrier during a showdown between Taskmaster's team and the New Warriors. The three Sinister Six members were eventually defeated by the amateur New Warriors.
Season 4[]
The Sinister Six return in the fourth season, Ultimate Spider-Man vs The Sinister 6. Doctor Octopus and Hydra assembled a team that functioned as a Sinister Seven. In "The New Sinister Six", Octopus along with Ultimate Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, Rhino, Hydro-Man, and Electro, assaulted the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy at the Triskelion. Spider-Man and his team of "Web Warriors" (Iron Spider, Kid Arachnid, Agent Venom) and "New Warriors" (Cloak and Dagger) all work together to defeat them. Though they are betrayed by Scarlet Spider, who was secretly a mole for Doc Ock and the seventh member, the heroes and a reformed Sandman are able to defeat most of the Sinister Seven.
Scarlet eventually has a change of heart after being persuaded by Aunt May's compassion and realizing Octopus views him as nothing more than a "tool". He betrays Doc Ock and Hydra, fakes his death to save the Triskelion, and later officially joins the Web Warriors as a hero.
In the two-part series finale "Graduation Day", Doctor Octopus discovers Spider-Man's secret identity and assembles a "Superior Sinister Six" consisting of Kraven the Hunter, Scorpion, Rhino, Vulture, and Crossbones as the Lizard, to trap Spider-Man and strip him of his powers. After capturing the Web-Slinger Doctor Octopus used an antidote to temporarily remove Spider-Man's powers. However, with help from Norman Osborn, Spider-Man regained his abilities and used the same antidote to free the mind-controlled villains (Vulture, Rhino, and Crossbones/Lizard) and ultimately, a monstrous Doc Ock. Spider-Man persuaded Doctor Octopus to surrender, leading to his final arrest and the end of the series.
