Villain Overview

She was on vacation with her husband and they were scoping out graveyards on the way, as you do, when she saw it. Rising out of the old cemetery, big as an old (macabre) telephone pole. Was this some kind of bizarre art piece the authorities hadn't gotten wise to yet? Even as she stepped out of the car, the megaphones on its "head" screeched to life. "NINE. EIGHTEEN. ONE. CHILD. SEVENTEEN. REMOVE. VILE.". A buzzing, doubled voice screamed random words at her. At this point, it jerked into motion, striding down the hill towards her.
~ The Tumblr caption for the original drawing of Siren Head.

Siren Head is a hostile cryptid and urban legend created by the artist Trevor Henderson. He is a tall mysterious humanoid creature known for his odd appearance and the various sounds that echo out of his head. As his name suggests, his head is a pair of sirens with mouths that he uses to kill any victim that are unfortunate to come across him.

Biography

Siren Head is a 40-foot-tall humanoid creature with a heavily emaciated, near-skeletal frame covered in dried, mummified flesh the color of rusty metal. It's limbs are disproportionately long and thin, with arms as long as it's legs, ending in huge, bony hands. Where it's head and neck would be is a thin pole of flesh with two sirens attached to them (hence the name), and several black wires snaking around it's "neck" and into his upper shoulders, pressed against it's abdomen. These speakers are the only metal parts of his body, fused to the neck by tendrils of skin and capable of swiveling around it much like the head of an owl. Some images depict Siren Head's speakers with toothy, lipless human-like jaws and a long, retractable thin snake-like tongue, though Henderson has said that the teeth are only visible on a certain radio frequency.

True to it's name, Siren Head's speakers can play various types of loud noises, typically air raid sirens, garbled music, conversations, numbers station broadcasts or emergency broadcasts.

When mimicking it's prey, a distinctive distortion in the voices is always present, due to the sounds being played through sirens instead of vocal chords or other organic means of creating noise.

As expected, Siren Head is very hostile and dangerous. Siren Head is mainly located in rural towns and wooden areas. The victims of Siren Head are lost travelers, hikers, and even children. If the sounds of someone in distress are released, it can be a method of Siren Head trying to lure the victims into the woods. Since Siren Head can blend in very well within trees, people do not even notice it. It could make it's brutal attack at any time, and capture it's victims, while the sound of their loved ones talking are being played from Siren Head's sirens.

Sightings

The first sighting of Siren Head occurred in 1966, when a family on vacation in Arizona Desert captured an image of Siren Head near two telephone poles. About 30 years later on July 16, 1995, Chad and his friends were hiking in the woods of Tanyard Creek, where they found Siren Head to be lurking. According to Chad, his friends got snatched by something gigantic striding through the trees, which mimicked their voices. Chad was found alive with a few injuries, while the friends were gone, either taken or killed by Siren Head. In total, there have been about nine reports of Siren Head that were released by the victims. One example is a photo of Siren Head on the streets in Indiana, where citizens started disappearing. However, these many incidents are not the first depictions of Siren Head. Ancient cave paintings of Siren Head depicting him engaged in combat with ancient humans have been found all over the continent of North America, which indicates that Siren Head is not a new species on earth. There have been also sightings of creatures that resemble Siren Head but lack similar features, though these sightings are implied to just be the same Siren Head shapeshifting into different forms to adapt to new environments as Trevor confirmed that Siren Head is the only one of it's species when he responded to an ask on Tumblr about his creations possibly being part of a species; he name drops Siren Head, Long Horse, Bonesworth and Mr. Mascot as a few of the monsters that are the only one of their kind.

For example, a photo of Siren Head got leaked where it appears to have a head resembling a streetlight, standing in a position where it's trying to blend in with the other streetlights lining the sidewalk. It is very possible that Siren Head has the ability to transform into various structures in order to better blend into his surroundings and lure it's victims. However, there are also theories that Siren Head is actually a hostile species, that there used to be a lot of creatures similar to Siren Head which are now deceased, and Siren Head is the last remaining member of his species and is always on the move to eat and survive.

Trevor has posted another possible sighting of Siren Head which is noticeably very different from the usual sightings. The picture appears to show a variation of Siren Head with many more sirens on it's neck with about five being visible. The caption also describes how a majority of the population (either of a neighborhood or a small town) were found dead in their homes or on the streets with burst eardrums and soft tissues, which is odd as Siren Head has not done anything similar to this before. The fact that many of the corpses were not taken by Siren Head has led someone to theorize that it killed them for sport, though this theory is not confirmed as many people were also reported missing, meaning that they could have been taken by Siren Head for food or other reasons. It is still unknown why Siren Head had used this unconventional killing tactic.

In video games

Sirenhead videogame

Siren Head as it appears in the video game Siren Head.

A video game developer created a video game named Siren Head, where the player, portraying a forest ranger, is supposed to escape from Siren Head inside of the woods while searching for a missing hiker. At the beginning of the game, the player starts at two ramps with their car. The player then turns around and explores the woods, hearing a noise in the distance that sounds like a siren.

Further on, the player sees various scratch marks along the ground and a few items such as a backpack and a t-shirt covered in bushes. At the end of the woods, the player finds the mutilated dead traveler with blood on the ground. Once the player turns around, Siren Head appears behind the player. Siren Head would start chasing the player with releases of various sounds playing through his sirens, slashing his claws when he gets close to the player. The player's goal is to run away back into the car and escape Siren Head.

If Siren Head gets close enough to the player, glitch-effects would start appearing, and Siren Head would eventually grab the player and kill them instantly by lifting and dropping them to the ground.

Personality

Siren Head is a very aggressive, remorseless and skilled predator, which makes it very dangerous. It seems to have some degree of intelligence due to using tactics such as camouflaging within forests and mimicking sounds like voices to hide from and lure his prey. Other than that, nothing much else is known about Siren Head’s way of thinking, though unconfirmed theories suggest it is the last of it's kind and so might have a strong will to survive, possibly developing it's camouflage skills to hide from other dangerous creatures, though again this is not confirmed. Siren Head is not above fooling people with their friends’ voices and one sighting of him suggests that he also blocks out the screams of his devoured victims with his own sounds, ensuring there is no chance anyone will help them. This is most likely to ensure a successful hunt by confusing and disorienting the prey, though it might also simply be a form of cruelty. Siren Head also sometimes does not consume it's victims as seen in the Siren Head video game, meaning that it possibly kills for sport or other reasons.

The latest possible sighting of Siren Head shows him performing a very dangerous never before seen killing tactic. For unknown reasons, Siren Head chose to kill many of the people in a town/neighborhood by bursting their eardrums and soft tissues. It is not known whether Sirenhead produces a specific sound to cause such an effect, or if it simply made noises that were loud enough to do so. Many of the residents were left behind and not taken by Siren Head, suggesting that Siren Head has started killing large groups of humans just for the sake of it, which is odd as it has never performed such a sizable action before, usually only stalking and killing small groups or individuals. It is possible that this multi-headed version of Siren Head is a subspecies, though Trevor has not confirmed whether this is the case.

Powers and Abilities

  • Mimicry: Siren Head has the ability to release sounds of news broadcasts, human conversations, sirens, and screams. One report claims that Siren Head was able to kill a group of people by mimicking their friend’s voices. Another post’s caption suggests Siren Head can use his broadcast to block out the cries of his victims. The latest sighting shows a five-headed Siren Head using his loud sounds to possibly kill off many people, as they were found with burst eardrums and soft tissues.
  • Strength: It is believed that Siren Head is extremely powerful due to his size. Siren Head is able to break down trees or various heavy objects at will.
  • Speed: In one sighting of Siren Head, a couple reported that Siren Head can be incredibly agile. The couple were driving home, until they saw the graveyard. They ended up checking out the grave, where they saw Siren Head. According to the story, Siren Head started running towards them at an extremely rapid pace.
  • Stealth: Some say, that Siren Head is a stronger-moving relative of trees, which is the reason why Siren Head can blend inside of a forest or behind a tree. He can stay motionless for days at a time to blend in with his surroundings, with Trevor mentioning on his Tumblr that Siren Head can cling to ceilings sometimes to make his body blend in with the wires and look like a PA system, stating that he might have used this tactic to take several people in Detroit. Trevor also mentioned that Siren Head makes no sound while moving, saying he can be “almost completely silent”, with yet another post saying he was able to move when someone’s back was turned without the person knowing.
  • Transformation: Siren Head appears to be a shapeshifter, being able to transform his head into actual sirens and street lamp-lights, with Trevor mentioning on his Tumblr that Siren Head was once possibly able to disguise himself as a piece of home furnishing or pipes in the walls to kidnap a family of four. He was seemingly able to somehow take them from their home in his new form or lure them without having to break in, as the only sign of their disappearance was the open backyard patio door. The latest sighting shows a multi-headed variation, which could either be a subspecies or the same Siren Head creating more sirens on his neck to kill off many more people. In some cases, Siren Head could also remove an individual's organs.

Trivia

  • Siren Head was created by Trevor Henderson, who is known for making various bizarre creatures over the internet. His other creations include Cartoon Cat, the Country Road Creature, the Bridge Worms, the Man with the Upside-Down Face, the Smile Room, the Giants, and Long Horse.
  • The only parts of Siren Head that are man-made are it's sirens and wires, which are fused to it's dry and mummified skin.
  • When asleep, Siren Head produces white noise.
  • According to Henderson, Siren Head would be unaffected by an EMP, as it is mostly organic.
  • On Twitter, Trevor posted an artwork of Siren Head, calling it the “patron saint of going missing without a trace, of creeping dread, of bad things coming”. Interestingly, the artwork features an iteration of Siren Head with an additional third smaller siren on it's neck as opposed to the usual two-headed design. This might mean that Siren Head was redesigned.
  • Siren Head was proposed to the SCP Foundation site as the non-canon SCP-6789, but it has yet to be officialized.
  • Trevor has confirmed that Siren Head and Long Horse are aware of one another, possibly being enemies due to their different views on humanity.
  • Trevor confirmed that Siren Head is the only one of it's species when he responded to an ask on Tumblr about his creations possibly being part of a species; he name drops Siren Head, Long Horse, Bonesworth and Mr. Mascot as a few of the many monsters that are the only one of their kind.
  • Siren Head moves like a stop-motion creation and it's movement is nearly completely silent.
