Sister Anna is the main antagonist of the RuneScape quest known as "One Piercing Note". She uses alias' as The Killer and The Ripper, both of which are alter-egoes she used during the quest and she terrorized the nunnery of the Abbey of St. Elspeth Citharede until her death at the end of the story-arc.
History[]
Sister Anna was originally a dancer before joining the Abbey of St. Elspeth Citharede, the order strictly forbade dancing and non-religious music since they believed that music was a divine instrument, this caused Anna to forever be separated from her former life as a dancer (as well as her former lover), though she was seen as a faithful nun, she was also a source of conflict with some of the Sisters and while there she often got into heated arguments with the Abbess and eventually she was believed to have been murdered in a brutal fashion.
The World Guardian arrives at the Abbey and is tasked by the Abbess to uncover the truth behind the murder, while investigating the hero begins to collect evidence suggesting that an ancient demon known as the Ripper Demon was responsible, returning from its apparent death.
Yet as more murders occur it is decided to lay a trap for the Killer, the World Guardian does so by building a decoy in the abbey cellar called "Sister Cabbage" - the World Guardian works with the Abbess to trick the Killer into thinking the new "sister" was a recruit, a former dancer coming to join the abbey.
The plan worked and the Killer struck the decoy, only to stop in confusion as the decoy fell apart and the World Guardian ambushed them, the Killer then fled into the abbey and the World Guardian gave chase, following them to the clocktower where it is ultimately revealed that the killer is Sister Anna herself, who has gone insane and dressed up as the Ripper to stalk and mutilate those she deemed sinful or those who risked exposing her - when confronted by the World Guardian she holds one of the sister's hostage and threatens to kill her.
With no means to safely free the sister otherwise the World Guardian uses the Abbey's clock to their advantage and sets it to the hour, causing the large bell to ring- deafening Sister Anna and allowing the other sister to escape.
Sister Anna then engages in a mad rambling before she plummets to her death from the clock tower. If the player opts to forgive her, she will beg Saradomin to take her spirit to light, and jumps out of the tower falling to her death.
Personality[]
Sister Anna was originally a very kind and passionate woman, her friends stated that as a dancer she was full of life and when she decided to give up dancing to become a nun she was noted to be very faithful.
While some of the nuns (especially the Abbess) found her a source of conflict none of them truly wished her any harm and would never of suspected her of becoming the killer but it seems that deep down Anna was a disturbed individual, the first signs of her mental instability rose when she discovered her former lover was engaged in an affair with Sister Elena and demanded Elena be expelled from the Abbey, while this could be argued as outrage for Elena breaking her vows as a nun it would also be clear that Anna still held deep feelings for her former lover and saw Elena's betrayal as a personal attack, this likely contributed further to her mental breakdown.
Either due to madness or possession Anna's view on the world became gradually more and more twisted, she began to see herself as an incarnation of St. Elspeth herself and believed it was her divine duty to kill those who were "sinful" - she would begin her "divine" task by killing a young recruit, mutilating her body and dressing her in her old robes, faking her own death so she could be "reborn" as the Killer.
When confronted on the hypocrisy of killing a woman for the "sin" of dancing despite being a former dancer she flew into a rage, claiming she was repentive of her past "sins" and thus was justified - when accused by the World Guardian of acting more like the Ripper than the Saint she became even more angry and believed herself to still be an agent of the divine.
Depending on choices made by the player when talking to Sister Anna in the climax she can either eventually realize her own madness, upon which she will fling herself off the Abbey clocktower to try and redeem herself in death.. or she will leap from the clocktower in a fit of madness, believing she would be granted the ability to fly by the gods.. both scenarios end in her death.
Victims[]
Sister Anna was a serial-killer who managed to kill at least three victims before being stopped, her victims were all members of the nunnery and each one was killed for a specific "sin" or to prevent them from exposing Anna.
- Sister Isabella (deceased): A recruit who was brutally murdered by Anna and heavily mutilated (likely so it would be difficult to determine she was not Anna) - Anna then dressed the victim in her former robes and thus faked her own death, this was thus her first victim and her most methodical kill.
- Sister Elena (deceased): She was murdered in the abbey's cellar and just like Isabella had been mutilated, though not as badly, while Sister Elena was a rather hard woman prior to her death the reason for her murder was likely due to the fact she began noticing food going missing from the cellar and thus risked exposing Anna to the others, though it was also very probable she was targetted by Anna on a personal level as she also had an affair with Anna's former lover, which Anna discovered and tried to have Elena expelled from the abbey as a result.
- Sister Catherina (deceased): She was brutally murdered outside the abbey for her "sin" of dancing, prior to her murder she was a good-natured girl who had doubts over the nunnery's strict code on music and held a desire to leave - this was tragically seen as a unforgivable to the insane Anna and thus sealed Catherina's fate.)
- Sister Cabbage: While this "victim" was a decoy by the World Guardian to capture the Killer it still played a vital role in finally defeating Anna and showed her obsessive killing pattern as she tried to kill the decoy after word was spread that a new recruit was in the abbey, a former dancer, this sparked Anna to try and kill the sister in the dark cellar.. only for the World Guardian to reveal themselves, as well as reveal that "Sister Cabbage" was just a decoy.
- Sister Debora (survivor): Captured her upon fleeing to the clocktower, pursued by the World Guardian - she held Sister Debora hostage and threatened to kill her to keep the hero at bay but before she could do so the hero used the bells against her, allowing Debora to make her escape.)
Abilities[]
Sister Anna has no real superhuman powers, but did wear a vicious guise as the "Ripper" that had large clawed gauntlets, she was an expert at mutilation and ambush - yet was also severely limited by her extreme psychosis and thus could be tricked via making use of her obsessive need to murder others.
Despite her obsession, Sister Anna was extremely intelligent as she managed to fool the entire nunnery into thinking she had been murdered and even convinced many that the Ripper had returned from the grave - it was only via great investigation work did the World Guardian manage to expose her... once exposed Sister Anna's madness quickly took hold and she became desperate, no longer using stealth or ambushing and instead relying on hostage-taking and insane ramblings.

Trivia[]
- While unconfirmed, it is strongly hinted that Sister Anna's madness is unnatural and that she is possessed by the spirit of the Ripper.
- Anna's madness also seemed to take hold after he learned her former lover began an affair with Sister Elena, this coupled with her already volatile relationship with many of the higher-ups in the abbey likely caused a conflict of faith and a mental breakdown (or perhaps allowed the Ripper to possess her, if you seek a supernatural reason).
- The Ripper is just one of many such demons (known in-game as "Ripper Demons"), however, it is considered the most powerful of its kind.
