Skearhead (real name: Darkhead) is the main antagonist of Hirogaru Sky Pretty Cure. He is seemingly the most loyal and competent minion of Empress Undergu at first, but is soon revealed to be the embodiment of the Undergu Energy having taken a mind and body of its own and the secret true leader of the Undergu Empire who arranged the series' events for his own benefit.

He was voiced by Miyamoto Mitsuru.

Appearance[]

Skearhead resembles a bald middle-aged man with mauve skin. He has purple facial markings and eyeshadow, pointed ears, and black horns on top of his head. He has hazel eyes, and he sports a monocle on his right eye, as well as silver hoop earrings. Skearhead's outfit consists of a dark maroon robe with gold eye-shaped marks at the bottom of his sleeves, a red collar with yellow markings, a silver belt around his waist, and black cloth draped over both shoulders that has yellow trim and red markings at the bottom. Underneath the robe, he sports a dark red turtle neck shirt with silver trim and a silver plate on his chest and wears black gloves and boots.

As Darkhead, his appearance remains mostly the same, though his devil-like features become more prominent. His horns turn blood red and extend longer, with a third small one sprouting out of his forehead. His skin takes on a purple hue, and his ears become pointier and longer. He also gains red marks around his eyes and more demonic and tattered clothes. His right sleeve is torn off, and his earrings and monocle turn black.

As Daijarg, he loses most of his humanoid characteristics and becomes a massive dark purple snake with white star-like spots on his body, blood-red horns, red eyes, yellow sclerae, and gold fangs. When purified, he turns bright white with grey markings.

Personality[]

Skearhead is a cold and threatening being who is hard to read. On the outside, he appears to be a loyal servant of Empress Undergu. However, on the inside, he is actually manipulative and heartless. He is willing to use his inferiors for his and the Empress' benefit. He only prefers completing his goals and only confronts in battle if the other party attacks him first. He thinks that power is everything, the key to winning, and should be used to destroy everything, and those without it are worthless. Skearhead will do whatever it takes to complete the goals of the Undergu Empire, including turning Minoton into a Ranborg against his will, trying to kill Battamonda for turning good, and abandoning his mission.

Despite his cruelty, Skearhead cares for Empress Undergu. He served her father, Emperor Undergu, loyally and became her caretaker after his demise. However, Skearhead is cruel and aims to ensure that Undergu Energy reigns supreme. He backstabbed and killed Emperor Undergu, whom he influenced into battling the Kingdom of Sky Land, and then killed when he made peace with them. He even brainwashed Empress Undergu into believing that Princess Elleelain killed her father to ensure she resumed the fight.

Ultimately, Skearhead wants to extend his influence at others' cost. Skearhead is a dishonest and heartless person who only uses those who fit his principles. He enjoys his repressed emotions when he is despairing. As the incarnation of Undergu Energy, he lacks any real noble qualities.

History[]

Past[]

300 years ago, Skearhead accompanies Empress Undergu to Sky Land, but is ordered by Emperor Undergu to take the Empress back to the Empire as it's too dangerous for her to be close to the battlefield. In the Empire, Skearhead gives the Empress a little lecture that strength is everything despite her grudges. Sometime later, Skearhead appears in Sky Land's royal city and starts another attack while the Emperor battles Cure Noble. He is then confused when he notices the Ranborgs start vanishing several hours later.

It is later revealed that Skearhead decides to murder Emperor Undergu for making peace with the Sky Landians, and alters Empress Undergu's memories to make her blame and hate Elleelain for the Emperor's death.

Present[]

Skearhead banishes Minoton to another dimension. Later, he appears in front of Ageha's car, transporting the group to another dimension and kidnapping Ellee-chan. Skearhead tells the Cures where Ellee-chan is and tries to escape but is attacked by Cure Sky, who attempts to beat the answer out of him but refuses to tell them the Undergu Empire's plans for her, proclaiming that it's none of their business. He fights with the Cures and weakens them, stating that they have no options left to save Ellee-chan, and he warns them again to stay out of the Undergu Empire's business or there will be consequences. However, a mysterious Cure called Cure Majesty appears and confronts Skearhead. Skearhead asks for her name, and Cure Majesty tells him before promising to save her name in his mind palace as he retreats.

After battling the Pretty Cure, Skearhead informs the Undergu Empress about Ellee-Chan and formulates a plan to destroy the princess before she destroys the Empire with her powers, which the Empress agrees to his proposal. Skearhead later turns Minoton into a Ranborg to fight against the Cures. After Minoton is originally purified by Updraft Shining, Skearhead decides Minoton can be still useful as a servant. He later becomes more aware of Ellee-chan's growing powers after watching Majesty perform Majestic Halation with the other Cures to purify Minoton. Skearhead then heads to Sorashido City to confront the Cures again with a Kyoborg and states that he now knows something is about to happen when retreating.

Throughout the following episodes, Skearhead repeatedly attacks the Cures using his Kyoborgs. He attacks Sora when she was trying to support Tamaki, targets Ageha when she is spending time with Takeru on his last day at the nursery, interrupts the team's happy moments by attacking them at the fallen tree, and even invades the island where the Sky Land's Dragon Tribe were residing on. He summons a Kyoborg that is connected itself to the island's vines. Thankfully, the Cures eventually manage to purify the Kyoborg, saving the island from Skearhead's Kyoborg.

Skearhead later discovers that Battamonda has abandoned his mission and decides to punish him for it. However, Mashiro moderates and confronts Skearhead. Skearhead explains to Mashiro that the Undergu Empire eliminates those they believe are worthless. After the Cures defeat his Kyoborg, Sky confronts Skearhead and demands to know why the Undergu Empire is so cruel to their inferiors. Skearhead cryptically answers that they do so because Empress Undergu, the one they serve and love, wants them to act that way. His words confused Sky, allowing Skearhead to attack her with an Undergu Energy orb. However, Wing pushes Sky out of the way, before Skearhead retreats. However when confronted by Sky about having a misguided purpose in fighting for the person he is loyal to, Skearhead retreats after refusing to talk with her as he doesn't accept that she might be right.

Skearhead orders Battamonda to ingest Undergu Energy in exchange for sparing Battamonda's life. Instead, Battamonda defies him by punching him, and returning Mashiro's Mirage Pen. Angered by this, Skearhead further brainwashes Battamonda. However, after being challenged by Prism, who defies his ideology, Skearhead begrudgingly retreats once Battamonda is purified.

Upon learning that Cure Majesty has fully awakened, Skearhead, after putting Empress Undergu within a recovery machine, heads to Sky Land to confront the Cures, despite Empress Undergu's protests. He tries to break Sky Land's barrier, but his Ranborgs are overpowered by the Cures. He then exudes a strong explosion of Undergu Energy in hopes of killing Sky and Majesty, only to gravely injure himself. He tells the Cures that it is useless to heal him, and he perishes as he returns to being pure forces of Undergu Energy after surrendering to his wounds, still believing that strength is everything, and apologizing to the Empress for failing to protect her. However, it turns out his death is temporary, and he returns after literally stabbing Empress Undergu in the back with a spear that goes right through her abdomen.

Daijarg has met his demise

After betraying Empress Undergu, Skearhead reveals that he is the incarnation of Undergu Energy and engages in a final fight with the Cures. He temporarily corrupts Sky with Undergu Energy by holding Prism captive, intending to turn her into his vessel, but his plan fails after Prism purifies Sky. Transforming into Daijarg, he eventually loses his humanoid characteristics. He resorts to attempting to get Empress Undergu to be his vessel by lying that he loves and needs her, only for her to defy and remove him from her body. Desperate, Daijarg decides to attack Sorashido City to find another vessel. However, he is no match against the Cures and meets his death as he is purified by Majestic Halation. Following his death, Skearhead's reign of terror had come to an eventual end. The peace between Skyland and Undergu Empire has been restored.

Abilities[]

  • Summoning Ranborgs and Kyoborgs: Skearhead can summon Ranborgs and Kyoborgs with Undergu Energy by saying the phrase "Undergu Energy, Arise!" (アンダーグエナジー召喚!?).
  • Teleportation: Skearhead can transport himself by summoning portals with Undergu Energy. He can also use his portals to blindside his enemies and capture his targets, by sending them to another dimension. However, unlike the other generals, he doesn't use a summoning phrase to create them, only calling the word itself.
  • Weapon Generation: Skearhead can create weapons, as he crafted a spear that was used to kill Emperor Undergu and later used to stab Empress Undergu.
  • Dome creation: Skearhead can use Undergu Energy to protect himself through domes.
  • Memory Manipulation: Skearhead can use his powers to manipulate the memories of a person.

Trivia[]

  • Skearhead is the only member of the Undergu Empire who:
    • doesn't have shoulder spikes, spiked gauntlets, or a gemstone on his forehead.
    • doesn't say "I've been purified~" (スミキッタ~?) when being purified.
  • He is aware of the Dragon Tribe and their location.
  • Skearhead's thematic motif is "a snake in the grass", which is correspondent to his deceitfulness with how he manipulated both Undergu Empire's leaders. This is further indicated by his final form being a snake.
