The Skeleton Pirates are the secondary antagonists in the Smiling Friends episode A Allan Adventure.
Hired by Mr. Landlord to complicate Allan's quest for paperclips and defend their ship, they are eventually defeated after being swallowed by a sea monster.
The captain is voiced by series co-creator Michael Cusack.
Appearance[]
The reanimated skeleton pirate captain is an off-white humanoid skeleton with red eyes. He wears a navy blue coat with gold trim, a pirate hat with a crimson feather, and black boots. He wields a silver cutlass with a gold hilt.
The other members are also humanoid skeletons, but have hollow eyes instead. They are equipped with bows and arrows and wear various pirate gear, such as red bandanas and eyepatches.
They ride aboard a gigantic, wooden pirate ship covered in a mold-like substance and adorned with a skull-and-crossbones emblem and flag.
Biography[]
After Allan accidentally knocks down his box of paperclips when retrieving them from Sasquatch, it reanimates a pile of bones into the pirate skeleton captain. He steals the box of paperclips, decapitates Sasquatch, and runs towards his ship before sailing off with his crew. Allan, in pursuit of his paperclips, pursues them on a raft, prompting them to shoot arrows and throw grenades at him. One of the grenades destroys Allan's raft, but he quickly recovers by hitching onto the ship and riding two planks of wood. A massive leviathan suddenly appears in the water, which then consumes their entire ship whole, along with Allan. After he lands in the beast's stomach, the captain's cutlass falls from the air and impales him. Allan confronts the captain, who quickly drops his pirate persona, he apologizes and briskly asks for help, but he ends up succumbing to his injuries.
Mr. Landlord later reveals that he orchestrated this entire event using paid actors and animatronics, alongside the rest of Allan's day.

- The skeleton pirates were animated by RadioTV, a studio located in Los Angeles, California. The lead animator on the scene was Kevin Bissell.
