Skeletor is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Mumm-Ra) of the crossover comic book event He-Man/Thundercats. He is He-Man's archenemy, a tyrannical skeletal sorcerer bent on destroying the forces of good and conquering Eternia along with the rest of the universe. After countless battles and attempts to destroy He-Man and his allies, Skeletor joins forces with Mumm-Ra out of mutual convenience after the mummy sorcerer arrives on Eternia. Together the two villains prove to be a deadly alliance, merging into a single cataclysmic being who threatens the multiverse and forces their respective enemies to team up in order to stop them.
Appearance[]
Skeletor's design is consistent with most portrayals of the character. He has the head of a skeleton with fiery lights for eyes and a large blue-skinned body, complete with a muscular warrior's physique that compares to the likes of He-Man and Lion-O. His clothes are all purple, with a hood covering his head and leather armor including a harness which barely cover his skin.
Biography[]
After the worlds of Eternia and Third Earth are merged by the act of Mumm-Ra and the Ancient Spirits of Evil, Skeletor emerges just after Mumm-Ra's initial battle with He-Man to disintegrate the mummy and take his remains away. Inside his lair in Snake Mountain, he reveals to the still conscious Mumm-Ra that he also struck a deal with the Spirits of Evil and that he was offered the mummy's body and magic as a token for his services. He also tells his fellow sorcerer about how long he has been fighting the forces of good led by He-Man and tried to take over the Power of Grayskull which he posseses as his own but to no avail as his powers are unobtainable to those unworthy.
Skeletor then declares that things are about to change, as Mumm-Ra himself and his immortality are the key to unlocking the secrets to the power he has craved for so long. With the assistance of the Spirits of Evil, Skeletor comes up with a new form of dark magic that enables him to absorb He-Man's power, making him revert back to his alter-ego Prince Adam and killing him in the process.
Right after proclaiming victory at the sight of his archenemy's demise, Skeletor is faced by the newly arrived Thundercats, who were displaced from their homeworld into the lands of Eternia during the interdimensional clash. Even faced by Skeletor's new powers and magical might, together the Thunderans fight bravely and manage to best him temporarily before regrouping and leaving the evil sorcerer to fall back.
While the Thundercats get acquainted with Eternia and its royal family as they mourn the death of Prince Adam now knowing that he was He-Man all along, Skeletor and Mumm-Ra plot the next step of their Evil scheme.
