The Skewerz are the villainous main protagonists of the 2020 Annoying Orange mobile game of the same name, and supporting characters in the episodes of the web series made to promote the game. They are a hostile race of living skewers that try to impale as many of the sentient fruits as they possibly can.

Appearance[]

In the game, the Skewerz appear as long metal arrows that lack faces. During gameplay, the Skewers are represented as just the head of the arrow while being constantly followed by long lines of bubbles to store the fruit they impale through.

In the web series, the Skewerz appear as stainless steel barbecue skewers with long blades and short handles. They also have big pairs of eyes on the sides of their handles, which take up so much space in their facial area that they don't seem to have mouths.

Personality[]

Based on their portrayal in the web series, the Skewerz are incredibly animalistic, acting like excited canines that see Orange as their master. However, the Skewerz are also shown to be incredibly bloodthirsty, as they stab through dozens of innocent fruits for their own enjoyment, and whimper when Orange tells them to stop killing people.

In spite of their murderous nature, the Skewerz seem to genuinely care for Orange and Pear, seeing the two as their masters. This is shown by how the Skewerz immediately try to play fetch with Orange when he throws a wood chip for them to catch, and actually bring it back to him after stabbing through multiple foods. This is also shown by how the Skewerz jump in the air to celebrate with Orange and Pear after Orange suggests an idea for the mobile game, as well as the fact that the Skewerz are never seen attacking the two.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Stabbing: Due to their long blades, the Skewerz are able to stab through large numbers of fruit without effort.
  • Speed: The Skewerz are able to move incredibly fast as they stab through the fruits, and are able to speed themselves up even more by stabbing through strawberries.
  • Flight: As seen in the promotional web episodes, the Skewerz are seemingly able to move around by floating through the air, allowing them to stab fruits at any direction.
  • Boosts: Throughout the game, the Skewerz are able to equip a variety of different boosts to assist them before starting the level. Mosts power ups can be upgraded to raise the benefit of using them in exchange for the various seeds that are collected during gameplay.
    • Freezer: Causes all fruits on-screen that haven't been impaled to suddenly freeze for a couple seconds, allowing the Skewerz to stab through them more easily.
    • Change Up: Swaps out a set number of fruit on-screen, which the Skewerz are able to use to potentially get rid of any hazardous fruit.
    • Ghost: Allows the Skewerz to phase through any objects in their way for a couple seconds, which they can use to create a shortcut to either stab into a certain fruit, escape a hazardous fruit's vicinity, or to return back to the Froomba.
    • Power Deactivator: Causes all of the skewered fruit's effects to be deactivated for a couple seconds, allowing the Skewerz to stab through many of the fruit without having to deal with some of their specific abilities.
    • Armored Head: Allows one of the Skewerz to stab through one hazardous fruit without breaking, which they can potentially use to pass through a certain enemy in front of them to make it back to the Froomba.
    • Double Seeds: Doubles the amount of seeds that are earned after completing a level, allowing other boosts for the Skewerz to be upgraded more easily.

Biography[]

Skewerz[]

In the game, the Skewerz are tasked to go through 6 areas with 10 levels each, where they must impale through large numbers of sentient fruits in the kitchen before sending them to be slowly and painfully juiced to death by a blender-like device called the Froomba.

Throughout the game, the Skewerz will have to stab through a number of different types of fruits with their own special abilities, while avoiding certain other fruits that will attempt to put an end to their massacre, such as the avocados and pickle guards.

At the tenth and final level of each area, the Skewerz will come to face against one of the three different fruit bosses that aim to stop the Skewerz reign of terror for good: The Grape Boss, the Coconut Boss, and the Apple Boss, all of whom are larger relatives of the different fruits they've been stabbing through. After beating all of the bosses a second time, the Skewerz ultimately succeed in their journey to kill as many fruits as possible.

Promotional Episodes[]

SKEWERZ - New Annoying Orange Mobile Game Trailer!!![]

The trailer begins with an announcer asking a strawberry if he likes stabbing fruit. The Strawberry says "No", to which the announcer replies, "Well too bad!" A Skewer then suddenly flies straight towards the Strawberry and impales him to death, after which the announcer continues advertising the game.

Annoying Orange - Skewerz![]

Orange, Pear and Little Apple find a strange wooden crate with a number of warning labels on it that apparently fell from the sky earlier and landed in the kitchen. Little Apple excitedly wonders what could be inside, to which Pear replies that it likely contains some Skewerz, seeing as it says so on the side of the crate. Orange promptly mocks Little Apple for being illiterate, after which the latter decides to leave through the door in annoyance.

Suddenly, the crate begins to shake, and Orange tells Pear that something alive is likely stuck inside, to which Pear warns him not to open it, only for the box to start getting wrecked from the inside, before breaking to reveal a trio of barking Skewerz. Orange takes an immediate liking to the Skewerz and throws a wood chip play fetch with them, causing them to start stabbing through many innocent fruit in the kitchen. One of the Skewerz then returns to Orange with the wood chip after having impaled through three other fruits and killing them. A donut then expresses thankfulness that he survived thanks to the hole in his stomach, only to be killed by the other two Skewerz.

Pear then tells Orange that they need to get rid of the Skewerz before they cause any more damage and destroy the kitchen. Orange objects, claiming he's already given the three Skewerz names, to which Pear replies that he hasn't. Orange then tries to disprove him by making up a name for one of them on the spot as the Skewer leaves to stab more people, after which Orange settles on calling him Stabby McLancelot. Orange then decides to have a talk with the Skewerz to try convincing them to stop impaling the other foods in the kitchen, which only causes them to whimper. Orange expresses that he feels bad for trying to discipline his Skewerz, to which Pear reminds him that they just murdered twelve people.

As Orange is about to agree with Pear and try to figure something out, he suddenly smells a suspicious pair of vegetables consisting of a potato and zucchini, who came after hearing that Orange and Pear were trying to get rid of the Skewerz. After Pear tells the veggies that he and Orange are looking to offer the Skewerz up for adoption into a new home for completely free, the potato asks him if the Skewerz have any special skills to be put into the circus or used in a TikTok. Orange simply replies that the Skewerz tend to stab lots of people, which the veggies are intrigued by and tell him they can work with that.

Pear quickly realizes the two veggies are untrustworthy and warns Orange about it. Orange then decides to reject the veggies' offer, claiming he loves his Skewerz too much to get rid of them, even if they pose a threat to the kitchen and constantly stab people to excite themselves. The veggies decide to retaliate by bringing more of their friends for backup while standing in a single-file line to attack. Orange proceeds to fight back by picking up the wood chip from before and throwing it behind the veggies for Stabby McLancelot to fetch, causing him to stab through group of veggies and kill them. Orange then congratulates Stabby and tells him that he and the other Skewerz are now free, before suggesting he has an idea for the ensuing mobile game, after which he, Pear and the Skewerz jump in excitement.

  • The Skewerz are, along with the fruit bosses from the same game, the only major characters in the Annoying Orange series to directly originate from one of the official mobile games.
  • The Skewerz are among the few characters in the Annoying Orange series to have no mouth in any of their appearances, along with Slender Man and Blender Man.
