~ A reoccurring claim by Skully about themselves. |
Skully is an anti-heroic character from the Marble Hornets comic series. While originally presented as an ominous figure, they were eventually revealed to be trying to help The Operator's victim's fight back against it.
Biography[]
Issue 1 & 2[]
Skully makes very few appearances in the first two issues. In Issue 1 it's shown that Skully is actively stalking Jessica, both outside of her workplace and while she's on the field. After attempting to chase them, Jessica is knocked out from exhaustion and dreams about seeing an her younger self in the tunnel taking off her face like a mask before melting into sludge. Skully appears in this dream behind Jessica with their hand on her shoulder, repeating what is being said to her by Taylor in the real world.
In Issue 2, Jessica sees Skully outside of Taylor's window and panicking slightly before realizing it was a hallucination. Skully later reappears outside of Jessica's apartment to drop off a package containing the entries of the original Marble Hornets series.
Issue 3[]
After returning to the house where she encounter Skully in Issue 1, Jessica finds Skully sitting in a room staring at a wall. Jessica accidentally alerts Skully via a creaking of the floorboards and jumps into the closet to hide. Skully is then alerted to her location due to Jessica getting a call from Taylor, they shrug it off and let Jessica answer the call. After the call is over, Jessica demands to know Skully's name, to which they take off their mask to reveal Jay's face.
Despite what is shown, it is further revealed that Skully isn't Jay, Jay is just one of the many that is "carried" by Skully, with Skully's face shifting to various different face of those that they "carry", with one of them being Alex Kralie. Skully then explains that they want to help the Operator's victims, most importantly being Jessica who they describe as "broken". She asks how they plan to fix her, and they exclaim that it is by killing the Operator.
Issue 3.5[]
In Issue 3.5, Skully appears to Brian while he is travelling through the Ark, offering to help him escape. Brian demands Skully to tell him where Alex Kralie is before Skully points toward Alex, who is standing over Jay Merrick. Brian then punches Alex and holds him over the hole in the center of the Ark. Skully the collects Jay before saying that they need both Brian and Alex to come with them. Brian argues that Alex should die then and there, with Skully attempting to persuade Brian against this. Brian then asks if Tim is being carried by them, with Skully stating that he isn't because he never died. This is what convinced Brian to let Alex live, and so Brian and Alex were carried from then on.
Abilities[]
Not much has been shown of Skully's abilities though like other villains of Marble Hornets, their abilities likely aren't very large.
Skully holds the victims of The Operator within themself, and can transform their face to be any one of them as seen in Issue 3. They can most likely transport to the ARK without The Operator taking them there.
