Come, come. Warm yourself by old Skult's fire.
~ Skult's first line.

Skult is a supporting antagonist in the video game Age of Mythology, and its remaster Age of Mythology: Retold . In actuality, he is the god Loki. He first appears in the Norse Arc of the Fall of the Trident' campaign, where he serves as a secondary antagonist, and makes a second appearance as the main antagonist of the short campaign The Golden Gift.

He is voiced by Warren Burton.

Biography[]

Fall of the Trident[]

Prior to the Norse Arc of the campaign, Gargarensis allied himself with Loki. He tricked Thor and destroyed his hammer, the source of his power, in order to prevent him from obstructing their plans to reach Niflheim and release Kronos from Tartarus.

When Arkantos and his allies meet him for the first time, he explains that tribal wars regularly occur amongst the Norsemen. He gives them a flag, and tricks them into believing that it can stop them from fighting. When the heroes present the flag to the feuding tribes, they immediately become hostile and attack them. Afterwards, Skult laughs at Arkantos and vanishes, and Arkantos learns that the flag is the banner of Folstag, who is a giant that raids villages.

After the heroes rebuild the hammer and barely prevent Gargarensis from releasing Kronos, Skult uses his magic to shape-change Kemsyt to assume Gargarensis' appearance. This bought time for Gargarensis to leave the Norselands to invade Atlantis and reach the final gate of Tartarus. Skult is last seen with an army offering the heroes a chance to surrender, to no avail, along with the disguised Kemsyt. His army is defeated and Ajax executes "Gargarensis."

As Arkantos sails back to Atlantis, and orders his soldier to bring out Gargarensis' head to hang from his mast, Skult is heard laughing as the head is revealed to be Kemsyt's.

The Golden Gift[]

Skult meets with Brokk, and convinces him that his brother Eitri plans to build a a giant golden boar as a gift to the Norse God Freyr. He then visits Eitri and tells him the same about Brokk. They travel to the Dwarven Forge and race to build the boar. Skult appears to thank them, and steals it. The dwarven brothers unite to take it back, and is then given to Freyr. It was said that although Loki's plans were foiled, he was likely to return. This was proven to be true, as he returns as one of the main antagonists in the Arena of the Gods game mode for the remaster.

Quotes[]

If you are looking for giants, we have plenty. Ragnarok is nigh. The final battle. As soon as the Norsemen started fighting one another, all the giants came out of the hills to join in.
I do have the banner of my own village. If you carry it before you, they'll stop fighting long enough to hear you out, but you won't change any minds.
~ Skult suggesting they carry the Folstag banner to show the Norse clans while also foreshadowing his betrayal.
HA, hahahahahahahahahaha!
~ Skult betraying the heroes.
We have a plan, my friend!
~ Skult about to outline his plan to shape-change Kemsyt into Gargarensis' form.
We will offer you a chance to surrender. If you give up now, we'll grant you a quick death. Otherwise, I promise you it will be long and painful.
~ Skult before attempting to overpower Arkantos and his army.
