| “ | It would be a shame to wound such a pretty cat...and with kits in her belly. The thought of harming them breaks my heart. | „ |

| “ | Clearly your friends don't care if Star Flower dies. But don't worry, you won't be the only one to pay for this. None of you realize the danger you face. My rogues outnumber you. They are more savage than any of you can imagine. If you value your prey more than the lives of your kits and your campmates, then you are free to refuse to me. | „ |
| ~ Slash to Clear Sky, Tall Shadow, Wind Runner, Thunder, and River Ripple |
Slash is one of the two main antagonists (alongside One Eye) of the Dawn of the Clans arc and the secondary antagonist of the Super Edition Riverstar's Home in the Warriors book franchise by Erin Hunter.
He was a brutal rogue leader of his group and an old friend of One Eye. Slash and his group lived alongside Early Settlers for a while, before abducting Clear Sky's mate, Star Flower, in hopes of getting control over each group of forest cats. However, this plan didn't work out and after dogs' rampage through his camp, Slash and cats loyal to him swore vengeance against the Early Settlers, with Slash particularly focusing on Gray Wing.
He and his rogues kidnapped his son, Black Ear, but the kit had been rescued by the forest cats in time, prompting Slash and his group to vanish across the Thunderpath. He later took over the park that Riverstar belonged to, but he was defeated by Riverstar and the park cats, and drowned in the river below.
Biography[]
A Forest Divided[]
Slash first appears when he is spotted by Gray Wing while snarling at Fern to learn more about the newcomers and punishes her physically when she tries to refuse out of fear. Some time later, it's revealed by Fern, that Slash abuses cats he sees as weak, doesn't care about lives of such cats, as well as is capable of killing those who would try to stand up to him. One night, he and two other rogues sneak into Clear Sky's camp, threatening the tom and his mate, while having the latter pinned to the ground. Slash reveals that he had been One Eye's close companion, having been promised Star Flower as his mate and is furious when the she-cat is pregnant with Clear Sky's kits. He declares that he wants to meet all leaders at the same time next night, near Sunningrocks, threatening to kill Star Flower if they won't come, before leaving with his two followers and the she-cat behind him.
Path of Stars[]
During the awaited night of the meeting, he greets the leaders from the top of the great rock, wich six of his rogues guarding him. After unsuccessfully trying to make a deal with the leaders, Slash begins to argue with them briefly, before threatening to kill Star Flower, which is taken as a bluff. Slash and his rogues then leave the scene. His rogues proceed to steal prey from Thunder's camp, with Slash himself refusing to accept Clear Sky's rabbit the latter attempted to give him, replying that it's a gift for Star Flower from him.
Later, Slash's group begins training for the battle against the Early Settlers, with Slash consulting with his two henchmen, Beetle and Splinter, about attacking the moor cats, as well as the fact that they need more rogues to enact the plan. He and some of his rogues ambush Gray Wing and Wind Runner while the two cats are hunting, with Slash almost killing Gray Wing, before getting stopped in time by the latter's mate. He returns with his cats to their camp, where they resume their brutal training sessions, only to get interrupted when unknowingly to Slash, one of his rogues; Red, draws dogs to the camp, which destroy it entirely and cause major mayhem. In the ensuing situation, Slash prevents Gray Wing from helping Fern's sister; Beech, which causes her to be killed by one of the dogs. After the rampage had stopped, weaker cats from Slash's group stand up to him and join the Early Settlers, which prompts Slash to leave with his most loyal followers.
He then appears again during the welcoming ceremony for the new members of the Early Settlers, which are cats who stood up to Slash. The rogue leader demands his cats back, but none of them return to him, except Ember. He threatens Gray Wing that the forest cats will pay for defying him, before leaving and kidnapping Gray Wing's son, Black Ear. Slash is then last seen escaping into the pine woods, when one of his rogues; Swallow, drops Black Ear. Ignoring what happened, the rogue leader and his followers disappear among the pines.
Riverstar's Home[]
It is revealed that Slash and his cats have taken over the park in which Riverstar grew up in, and only the latter's mentor, Arc, escaped. Arc, Riverstar, and a RiverClan warrior named Drizzle travel along the river, back to the park. They plan to recruit some of Slash's rogues, but it turns out they are only willing to fight on the stronger side. Snail, one of Slash's warriors, kills Riverstar, taking one of his lives. However, unbeknownst to them, Clan leaders have nine lives, and after Riverstar is revived, Slash's warriors are scared away. In desperation, Slash threatens to push Owl, one of the park cats, over a stone cliff, unless they let him go.
The RiverClan warrior Drizzle objects to letting Slash go, saying that he is so evil, he would kill his own kits if he had any. Slash asks her how she knows he hasn't already, and while she is horrified, Owl's daughter, Finch, quickly rescues Owl by snatching him away from the cliff. Slash is so shocked he stumbles and falls off the edge, drowning in the river below.
Appearance[]
Slash is a mangy, brown tabby tom with scarred muzzle and pelt, nicked ears and slashes of white fur on his front legs.
Personality[]
Slash is a brutal, arrogant, vile cat. He is known to look down on cats that are unable to catch up with the others, and those he sees as weak, eagerly abusing them physically. He is also capable of killing cats who disobey him. He doesn't seem to have any kind of remorse, as he was indifferent when two of his cats died in the dogs' rampage, while also threatening to kill pregnant Star Flower.
