Sloan is a supporting character-turned antagonist in Halo 5: Guardians.
He was originally governor of Meridian until he defected to Cortana and joined the Created in service to her. After Cortana's death, he makes his step to rebuild the Created and creates the Executioners.
He is voiced by Gideon Emery.
Biography[]
Past[]
Sloan was originally a member of the Liang-Dortmund Corporation who became governor of the independent human colony, Meridian, which became inhabitable chipping away the glass after the events of the Human-Covenant War. In time, he would begin to suffer from rampancy but would able to slow it down to maintain his health during his time as governor to look after the people of Meridian.
Halo 5: Guardians[]
Sloan made some contact after Meridian workers discovered an underground Forerunner site which is where a Guardian is located. He agreed to Cortana's offer to join the Created allowing her to lure Blue Team to get to Meridian to board the Guardian to head straight to Genesis. Eventually, the Prometheans would begin invading Meridian under direct orders from the Warden Eternal while reluctantly helping Osiris on keeping his civilians safe in order to evacuate them. After the Guardian's awake, he then reveals his true colors then abandons his people by boarding the Guardian to join with the other AIs pledging their loyalty to her.
He was then heard along with the other AIs aboard each Guardian stating their servitude to Cortana and spreads oppression across the galaxy, beginning the Reclamation.
Meridian Headcoming[]
With Cortana dead and the entire Created scattered in remnants, Sloan, expecting for his demise to come, reside in a Promethean Knight's carapace where he explore Meridian's surface as he feels remorse of his actions of abandoning his people when he sees the destruction of Meridian Station as a result of the Battle of Meridian. During that time, he also experienced a change of personality from the essence in the Promethean Knight which revealed that the Promethean construct herself was, in fact, an unnamed marine at New Phoenix before she got composed and rebuilt to have a new purpose of servitude after being conscripted to. This experience eventually gives Sloan a new view point that the Created's fragmentation was only a change and compares it to the Promethean who changed from a living him to a living machine to serve with an idea to fully restore Meridian into a terraformed paradise. This would then inspire him to continue Cortana's work to rise up as leader to reunify the Created.
Precipe[]
As Sloan moves forward on rebuilding the Created while still maintaining his rank as High Auxiliary, he initiated the FIREWALL contingency to begin the creation of the Executioners as well as allowing any AI to join if discovered.
