Experiment 523, better known as Slushy, is a major character in the Lilo & Stitch franchise.
He is an illegal genetic experiment created by Dr. Jumba Jookiba, designed to create freezing conditions that produce a combination of ice and snow. With his specialization in extreme cold, he generates intense snowstorms and enormous snowdrifts, while also ensuring that food remains preserved for extended periods. His one true place is making shave ice alongside Dupe.
Slushy typically appears as a jagged ice creature with three icicles on his head, and he lacks identifiable fingers or toes. His icy body is made of a light blue-white material that allows him to regenerate and reform if damaged or shattered. He has a turquoise nose, a purple tongue, and darker blue eyes, which are not made of the synthetic ice material.
Personality[]
Slushy is focused on having a good time, with his main source of enjoyment being the creation of large quantities of ice and snow. When faced with boredom or irritation, he freezes the source and continues with his activities. Slushy prefers to work undisturbed and dislikes interruptions or obstacles that may hinder his progress. Before his redemption, he would laugh maniacally and cackle sadistically.
He is not very affectionate or interested in forming relationships, as he is primarily concerned with creating snow and ice and easily loses interest in other matters. However, he is capable of forming friendships with others like Dupe and Sinker if he chooses to. Slushy has a strong dislike for hot weather and heat in general, which tends to irritate him. He also enjoys engaging in playful snowball fights with his cousins and sometimes takes pleasure in causing mischief by creating slippery conditions or freezing others' necessities.
He has a reputation for being confrontational and has had a rivalry with Splodyhead since they first met, though they later became friends with the help of Pleakley.
Biography[]
Lilo & Stitch: The Series[]
Experiment 523 was the 523th genetic experiment created by Jumba with funding from Hämsterviel. He was designed to create freezing conditions that produce a combination of ice and snow. 523 and the other first 624 experiments were deactivated and smuggled to Earth by Jumba during his mission to capture Experiment 626. All of the experiment pods were released and scattered across the island of Kauai.
Stitch attempted to retrieve a soda from a vending machine by shaking it, which caused Experiment 523's pod to accidentally fall out and roll into a nearby storm drain. Once in the sewage, 523 was activated, releasing an icy blast that froze the grating above. Subsequently, 523 froze the top of another storm drain at a helicopter base before emerging from it. Taking advantage of the situation, 523 hitched a ride on a helicopter and unleashed a snowy spectacle across the entire island.
After the soda machine malfunctioned, Stitch tampered with it, causing some damage. This incident led to Stitch and Lilo discovering unexpected snowy weather in Kokaua Town. Stitch felt uneasy and disturbed by the snow, while Lilo found it intriguing and convinced Stitch to accompany her back home. There, they sought advice from Jumba, who revealed the capabilities of Experiment 523 to them.
Afterward, Lilo and Stitch left the house and encountered Experiment 523, resulting in Stitch being frozen by 523. 523 attempted to freeze Lilo as well but was thwarted when Gantu intervened and captured the experiment in a glass capsule. Fortunately, Lilo came to Stitch's aid, freeing him from his icy prison with a blaster and allowing him to reclaim 523 from Gantu after a scuffle. Experiment 523, now named Slushy, was then brought back to the Pelekai house, where Lilo persuaded him to sprinkle more snow around for winter-themed fun.
Initially, Stitch was hesitant about the snow because it is a form of water. However, he eventually overcame his reluctance and joined Lilo in enjoying winter activities like ice skating and sledding. While they were having fun in the snow, Gantu made a sudden appearance and captured Slushy, commanding him to unleash a fierce blizzard that covered the entire island and created a formidable ice fortress for himself and Reuben (Experiment 625).
Shortly afterward, Lilo and Stitch embarked on a journey to the ice fortress to confront Slushy. To outsmart their enemies, they devised a plan to create snow decoys resembling themselves. These decoys caught Gantu's attention, allowing Lilo and Stitch to slip by unnoticed with Reuben. Despite their efforts, Slushy eventually caught on to their scheme and imprisoned them under massive icicles. However, Splodyhead soon arrived with Jumba and Pleakley. Splody's arrival displeased Slushy, leading to a fierce battle between them, ultimately resulting in Slushy freezing Splodyhead in a solid block of ice.
Once Splodyhead was freed, he unleashed a powerful fireball towards the sky from the summit of Waialeale Peak to disperse Slushy's relentless snowstorms. Meanwhile, Gantu, previously defeated, fell ill with a cold. Following Slushy's defeat and capture, Lilo and Stitch found him a suitable home where he could start a new life making shave ice.
In "Angel," some time later, Slushy was turned evil again by Angel's song, leading him to unleash havoc by freezing the entire town and putting Stitch and Pleakley in danger. He subsequently joined forces with Richter, Kixx, Sparky, Yin, Yang, and Cannonball, all influenced by Angel's song, to attack Stitch while aboard a ship. However, Angel had a change of heart and reversed their transformations before they could harm Stitch. The experiments, now back to their good selves, teamed up to defeat Gantu and managed to escape from the ship with Stitch.
In "Spike," Slushy was part of a group formed by Pleakley known as the E.A.R.W.A.X. group, which included Spike, Fibber, Nosy, Bonnie, Clyde, and Splodyhead. Feeling bored, Slushy decided to create a snowball and throw it at Pleakley. However, Pleakley dodged, causing it to hit Splodyhead instead. Angered, Splody melted the snowball with his body heat and fired a plasma blast at Slushy. Slushy conjured a bat made of ice and swiftly struck it at Spike, damaging him and freeing him from his glass capsule in the process. Chaos ensued as Splodyhead, Slushy, Bonnie, Clyde, Spike, and Nosy engaged in a chaotic fight.
The commotion ended when Pleakley intervened and suggested hugging therapy to resolve their conflicts. Surprisingly, Splody and Slushy embraced, ending their rivalry, although physical contact caused smoke to occur due to their distinct body compositions.
In "Snafu," Slushy and Dupe were seen working together to leverage their abilities to market and sell numerous low-calorie shave ice cones to customers. Their activity was soon disrupted by Gantu's nefarious plan to manipulate the rehabilitated experiments back to their evil ways. Gantu attempted to achieve this by playing a recording of Angel's song, but his scheme was foiled due to interference from Snafu, Experiment 120. As a result, instead of Angel's song, Gantu's karaoke tape started playing, amusing Slushy and Dupe.
Leroy & Stitch[]
Slushy was spotted alongside Poki while making shave ice. Later, Leroy captured the first 624 experiments, including Slushy, and brought them to a stadium for destruction, but Lilo, Stitch, Jumba, Pleakley, Reuben, and Gantu intervened just in time to save the experiments.
During the battle between the experiments and the Leroy clones, Slushy used his freezing abilities to stop the waves of attacking Leroys by breathing ice.
The Leroys eventually gained the upper hand, but their victory was short-lived as Lilo, Stitch, Reuben, and other experiments sang "Aloha 'Oe," causing the Leroy army to deactivate due to a fail-safe programmed by the original Leroy.
Stitch![]
In "Meega Going to Disneyland!", Gantu mentioned conducting research on Disneyland and revealed that Hämsterviel intended to visit the theme park with his six new experiments: Pix, Boomer, Slushy, Blowhard, Kixx, and Slugger. Upon arriving at Disneyland, Yuna's father encountered Hämsterviel and his experiments, who accused Yuna, Stitch, and their companions of being alien villains, leading to a tourist crowd chasing after Stitch. Another group surrounded Yuna, Sasha, Penny, and BooGoo. Despite Stitch's attempts to assist them, Slugger captured him and lifted him up. Penny, along with Yuna, Sasha, Pleakley, and Jumba, was also captured and suspended with ropes in a futile attempt to threaten Hämsterviel. After releasing Stitch, Slugger knocked him down, while Blowhard blew him against a wall and held him there. Stitch sneezed, causing Blowhard to be blown away instead. Boomer then launched himself at Stitch, and Kixx attacked, but Stitch evaded both, causing Boomer and Kixx to collide and send them both flying. Stitch then charged at Hämsterviel, only to be frozen in ice by Slushy. Although Stitch managed to break free, Hämsterviel used his friends and Penny as hostages, leaving Stitch feeling helpless. Eventually, Pix captured a distorted photo of him.
Later, following Stitch and his friends' escape, Hämsterviel released his six experiments, only for Yuna to successfully defeat Kixx, Slugger, and Blowhard, while Sasha handled Slushy, Boomer, and Pix, resulting in Hämsterviel's defeat.
In "Stitch Ahoy!", Hämsterviel planned an attack on a cruise ship that he lured Stitch onto by using both Slushy and Sinker, who were transmuted to attack everyone. Slushy froze all the passengers on the ship, but Stitch defeated him by inhaling his ice breath and hitting him back with it. Once defeated, Slushy and Sinker were locked in glass capsules and reverted from their transmuted state. Soon after their release, they began making shave ice.
In "Stitch and the Planet of Sand," Slushy was one of the many experiments captured by Hämsterviel and confined in glass containers. With Stitch's assistance, they managed to escape from captivity and united to stop Hämsterviel, Gantu, and Reuben, ultimately foiling Hämsterviel's plan to dominate the universe. Subsequently, Slushy and the other experiments returned to Earth.
At the end of "Stitch! Perfect Memory," Slushy was seen making shave ice for everyone.

For some reason, Slushy consciously chose to align with Hämsterviel during his first appearance in "Stitch!", although he returned to being good in later episodes.
