Smitty Bacall is a minor character in the 2012 Quentin Tarantino film Django Unchained.
He is the former leader of the Smitty Bacall gang and a stage coach robber who was one of the bounties Dr, Schultz and Django collects, despite being long retired.
Biography[]
Smitty Bacall was once a ruthless leader of the Smitty Bacall gang, working alongside Dandy Michaels, Gerald Nash and Crazy Craig Koons in stagecoach robberies. One robbery ended with the death of multiple people, giving him a wanted, dead or alive for 7,000 dollars.
In the winter of 1858, Dr. Schultz and Django Freeman track Smitty down to collect his bounty, finding that he has retired to a farm, tending the fields with his son. Django hesitates killing him due to him being retired and his son watching, but Schultz defiantly states that Smitty has to die for his crimes and that, he’ll die with his son which is considered a good death. Hesitating, Django eventually snipes Smitty, who falls over as his son is confused and tries to wake him up.
His bounty is later used by Django after he is detained by the LeQuint Dickey Miners. Django uses his bounty to convince the miners to let him go, only to then kill all three of them and flee.
