~ The Snake Oil Salesman after being rescued by Maximus from the farmer whose chickens he tried to molest. |
The Snake Oil Salesman is a minor character in the Amazon Prime's 2024 post-apocalyptic sci-fi television series Fallout, based on the video game franchise by Bethesda of the same name.
He's a sleazy scavenger who spends much of the series attempting to peddle his mysterious chems.
He was played by Jon Daly.
Biography[]
Season 1 Episode 2[]
The salesman is first seen during the montage where Maximus enjoys his newly acquired power armour, until he hears the salesman wailing in fear and despair, being attacked by another man. Maximus, not understanding the situation, grabs the man and forces him to release the salesman, who commends Maximus, degrades the man, grabs his things and bolts. Upset, the man tells Maximus that the salesman was fucking his chickens.
Later on, in Filly, after the shootout between Lucy, Maximus, The Ghoul, Dogmeat, Mama June and Siggi Wilzig, as Lucy helps Siggi limp away from the destruction, the salesman is seen in the marketplace, trying to sell a mysterious serum that cures ills. The salesman sees Siggi's fucked foot and mentions that his serum can cause one to regrow limbs, but is ignored by the two on account of the outlandishness of his claim.
Season 1 Episode 7[]
The salesman is not seen again until episode 7, where he's seen trying to off himself with a pipe rifle until he sees the injured Brotherhood of Steel squire Thaddeus limping back to the Brotherhood base after a brawl with Maximus that left him with a mangled foot, Maximus' power armor's fusion core and the head of Siggi Wilzig. He immediately abandons killing himself and chases after Thaddeus, eager to make a sale, which scares Thaddeus. He takes Thaddeus back to a run down hospital and goes through his chem collection, searching for something to sell to Thaddeus, until Thaddeus draws his weapon and asks him why he shouldn't just shoot the salesman and steal his chems for free.
The salesman explains that he knows what the chems do while Thaddeus does not, and that without the right guidance, Thaddeus could potentially poison himself, to which Thaddeus relents and trades him Maximus' fusion core for a special serum. When Thaddeus takes the serum, his mangled and shattered foot regenerates good as new. He then asks the salesman where the nearest radio station is so he can contact the Brotherhood, and the salesman directs him to the KPSS station in Hollywood Hills. Thaddeus worries about the radiation in the area, but the salesman tells him that thanks to the serum, that won't be a problem. He pats Thaddeus on the back and leaves.
The Salesman is not seen again after this point, and due to his prominence in Filly and the implication that Season 2 will take place in New Vegas, along with his dangerous hobbies (Such as engaging in beastiality with other survivalist's animals and trying to shoot himself in the mouth), it's not certain that he'll return for Season 2 of the Fallout show.
Appearance[]
The Snake Oil Salesman is a skinny, scrawny, scraggly older man with slight deformities on his face, a crappy suit and shoes.
Personality[]
The Snake Oil Salesman is an educated man who likes to speak in sentences mostly consisting of words with more than three syllables. He specialises in chems, knowing exactly what each one in his arsenal does. This aside, he's also clinically insane, breaking into chicken coups to molest them and trying to off himself after going a few days without a sale.
