Soldier Stonekong is one of the eight Maverick bosses in Mega Man X7. Modelled after an ape, he serves the Red Alert Syndicate. Soldier is the boss of the Deep Forest stage. His weapon, the Gaea Shield, protects him from damage. X can project a shield in front of his body upon getting his hands on the weapon. Soldier Stonekong himself is weak to the Explosion, which can break his sword.
He is voiced by Tesshō Genda in the Japanese version and by Walter Roberts in the English version.

Soldier Stonekong is honour-bound. He is well aware that Red Alert had strayed from the intended path of helping the Maverick Hunters, but refuses to split off from his group.
His Weapon (Gaea Shield)[]
Soldier Stonekong wields the Gaea Shield for his weapon. X can deploy this to protect his front from damage, leaving his flanks and back vulnerable, but it is a decent weapon. Roll is unable to use this weapon, instead learning "Prison Gate Sword" as compensation, holding a defensive stance with her sword (actually the late Zero's Z-Saber which she inherited from him). If she gets hit, she will strike back at whatever struck her. If it's an enemy, she just strikes them. If it's a projectile, she deflects it with her sword.
Biography[]
Soldier Stonekong made his lair deep within a forest, where X, Zero and Axl were searching for energy. Upon meeting him, Stonekong challenges them to a duel. When Axl encounters him, he scolds him for doing something so evil. Stonekong replies that he is aware that Red Alert is being manipulated, but he doesn't regret it as he fights for loyalty not justice. Stonekong meets his demise in a duel and congratulates his opponent for doing a good job against him.
Stonekong mainly attacks by dashing towards the player and launching his shield at them. He can also leap on the cylinder in the center of the arena, where he will create a huge rock which splits in 2, each part flies in the opposite direction and explode when they get near each other. He also wields a stone sword which can be destroyed. His weakness is the Explosion when playing as X or Axl and the Hadangeki when playing as Zero.
