The Sound of Justice, also referred as the Old Man Statue or simply ???, is one of the two secondary antagonists (along with the Sanctuary Titan) in Chapter 4: Prophecy of the 2018 indie RPG Deltarune.
The statue of Gerson Boom, it was unintentionally brought to life by Susie when she created the Second Sanctuary Dark Fountain. Unlike typical Darkners, it is aggressively hostile and attacks without reason. It fights Susie after she confuses it for the real Gerson Boom, launching unprovoked attacks on both her and Kris until Ralsei ultimately defeats it.
Biography[]
The Sound of Justice is first seen throwing a hammer that smashes a prophecy panel that Susie and Kris are reading in the former's Dark World. Believing it to be Gerson successfully resurrected, Susie and Kris chase after it, following it back to Gerson's study which transitions to a dark maze. Eventually, the place becomes too pitch black for the duo to see the echoes made by Kris's footsteps, forcing them to rely solely on hearing. Susie tries to find a way back and bumps into the Sound of Justice. She tries to reason with it, still believing it to be Gerson as she defends herself from its attacks.
When attacked, Kris shields Susie from the Sound of Justice's attacks and helps her in her fight. Even still, Susie refuses to attack, believing that she resurrected him wrong somehow and that she has to fix him. Eventually, Susie uses her healing spell to try and force some recognition in him, but in the spell's light realises "Gerson" is a living statue. Before the Sound of Justice can attack, however, it's promptly killed by Ralsei after he smashes it to bits.
