The Spacing Guild is a business conglomeration in the Galactic Padishah Empire and the overarching antagonists of Frank Herbert's Dune franchise. They have a corporate monopoly on travel throughout outer space within the Empire, as the prescient abilities of their Navigators allow them to determine safe routes throughout outer space. They are one of the factions leveraging control of House Corrino and manipulate events throughout the series to suit themselves.
History[]
The Spacing Guild, along with the Bene Gesserit, were one of two organizations pulling the strings behind Emperor Shaddam IV and who had a hand in the affair on Arrakis.
In the year 10193, when the Emperor personally traveled to Arrakis to stop the uprising being led by Paul Atreides, the Spacing Guild lowered their costs in order to allow the other Great Houses to head to Arrakis as well. After Paul overthrew the Emperor and took the throne himself, the Guild Navigator Edric was one of the individuals involved in the conspiracy against him.

Trivia[]
- The Spacing Guild's role in the conspiracy against Duke Leto Atreides and his house is made much more explicit in the 1984 film, where the opening scene establishes that they were the ones who ordered the Emperor to destroy House Atreides.
