“ | I think Ashfur has been fooling us. I think his promise about new lives beside the lake is a lie. [...] You just want it to be true. [...] Of course I do, but it seems too easy. I can't help agreeing with Bristlefrost. If it's so simple to take over the bodies of living cats, why is Ashfur here and not living beside the lake inside some Clan cat? I think Ashfur is stuck here just like we are, and he's just spinning lies because he needs us to fight for him. | „ |
~ Sparrowfeather. |
Sparrowfeather is a minor antagonist in Erin Hunter's Warriors book series, serving as a minor antagonist in the Omen of the Stars arc, and a supporting anti-heroine in The Broken Code.
She is a Dark Forest resident who after unsuccessfully trying to destroy the living Clans, aided them in defeating Ashfur and instead saving the Clans, as well as StarClan and the Dark Forest.
Biography[]
Omen of the Stars[]
Sparrowfeather is first seen while Ivypaw visits the Dark Forest in Night Whispers. She and Shredtail are training harshly on top of a large, black and white rock. She attacks first, striking Shredtail with a heavy blow that causes him to start bleeding. At the end of their fight, Sparrowfeather grabs the tom by his hind legs and begins to drag him down while the latter clings onto the rock desperately. Thistleclaw snaps at her to let him go, stating that he didn't order her to drag him off, only knock him off, and claims that she's cheating. After the brown she-cat gives a weak apology, she takes Shredtail's place on top of the rock.
In The Last Hope, Sparrowfeather is briefly seen aiding Darkstripe in fighting Cloudtail, before turning her attention to Dovewing. An unknown Dark Forest spirit tells them to leave the two ThunderClan cats be, claiming they'll just bleed to death from their wounds, and both join the unnamed cat to invade ThunderClan's camp. After the death of Brokenstar, she flees from the battle along with most of the remaining attackers.
The Broken Code[]
Ashfur is able to convince many Dark Forest cats, including Sparrowfeather, to help him with the promise of helping them possess living cats. Later, while discussing her concerns about the Dark Forest shrinking, she confronts Bristlefrost alongside Redwillow and Maggottail, attempting to possess the gray she-cat to no avail as her body is still alive and at the Moonpool. When Bristlefrost questions what they're doing, the three cats explain that Ashfur told them about a ritual to possess others that involved plucking out and burying three whiskers and then closing their eyes. When Bristlefrost explains that Ashfur's ritual is fake and that only leaders with multiple lives can be possesed, she convinces them to fight back against Ashfur to save their home. While confronting Ashfur and his brainwashed spirit cats, Sparrowfeather aids the Clan cats in fighting back, but is then told to retreat when she almost kills Rosepetal. After Ashfur's defeat, the dark water flooding the Dark Forest begins to recede, and Sparrowfeather returns to her home, alongside Silverhawk and Maggottail.
