~ Spectra when challenging King Zenoheld.

Keith Fermin, better known as Spectra Phantom, is a major antagonist in Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia and a major protagonist in the first arc of Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge. He was the son of Clay Fermin and the older brother of Mira. He joined the Vexos until he and Gus Grav betrayed the Vexos for his own agenda which is to obtain the Perfect Core Energy from Drago and make Helios as the Ultimate Bakugan. He became its Pyrus Brawler to gain more power for his Bakugan Helios. He was the main rival of Dan Kuso in Season 2. After losing to him for the last time, Spectra becomes a protagonist and helps the Brawlers whenever needed.

Appearance[]

Spectra is a tall young man with a mask with a single blue eye that blinks whenever he puts it on. He wears a red coat with feathers on it. Originally he had red hair, but dyed it blonde and grew it out upon becoming Spectra.

Personality[]

At first, Spectra seemed to be a kind brother to Mira teaching her how to play Bakugan. After he saw his father torture Hydranoid, he joined the Vexos because he wanted power. He would do whatever it takes to gain power, as shown when he turned Helios into a cyborg. He is very manipulative as shown when he got Gus Grav to join his side. He is not above kidnapping, as he kidnapped Runo to get Dan's attention only to give her back once Dan caught up with him. Despite his seemingly cruel personality, he values Mira and wants her to join his side so they could rule Vestal together. After losing to Dan for the last time, he becomes a big brother figure, teaming up with him to stop King Zenoheld once and for all and thanking him for showing him his mistakes.

Biography[]

Past[]

Originally, Keith lived in New Vestroia with his sister and father. He proved to be a good brother, as he helped Mira get good at Bakugan and told her to never give up. One day he saw Hydranoid getting tortured by his father. This interested him in the nature of Bakugan's sentience, and after desired ultimate power. Eventually, he joined the Vexos, becoming its leader and Pyrus Brawler. With his Bakugan Helios by his side, he vowed to be the strongest in New Vestroia. Sometime afterward, he beat Gus Grav in a tournament in Alpha City, and had Gus join him as his right-hand man.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia[]

Spectra first appears with the other Vexos watching as all the Bakugan get captured. Later, he battles Baron, with Helios proving to be superior to his Nemus. Baron later brings out Tigrerra, Runos' old Bakugan, into battle, but Helios beats her as well. After Baron loses, Helios takes Tigrerra away. Later, Prince Hydron contacts Spectra asking him why its thundering, and Spectra assumes there's a disturbance in the perfect core.

After hearing from Lync Volan and Volt Luster that the powerful Drago is in New Vestroia, he reports this to Hydron, who orders the Vexos to bring the Bakugan to him so Drago can be frozen.

A few days later, Hydron asks Spectra what going on, and Spectra tells the prince he is sending Mylene Farrow to deal with the Resistance while Shadow decides to join her.

Gus Grav later calls all the Vexos for a meeting after they lost a significant amount against the heroes. After warning that another loss could mean punishment for them and after some bickering, Spectra sends out Gus to fight Dan, in which Gus wins.

Despite Spectra's satisfaction with his minion's victory, Hydron lacks the same kind of happiness, furious over Spectra's failure to bring him Drago. Sometime after this, Gus fights Dan again, with Spectra joining the fray when Gus begins to lose, using his Hyper Dragonoid to help Gus fight Dan. Although at a disadvantage at first, Shun appears and manages to even the odds. Spectra tries to use Helios after Gus' defeat, but Helios' mocking about how he took Tigrerra causes Drago to tap into his greater power which results in Spectra's loss. Giving his word that Drago will not be Hydron's, he departs.

Spectra and the Vexos later appear in the Alpha City Tournament with Spectra being known as the Supreme Spectra. After the presentation is over, Spectra and Gus find out about fans sneaking backstage. Gus asks Spectra if he should check on the situation, which Spectra tells him its no problem knowing that the Resistance is finished. Spectra later tells Volt and Lync to get rid of the Resistance, which they fail to do after losing to Shun and Ace.

After the Alpha City controller is destroyed, Hydon tells Spectra he is not happy that Alpha city has been taken, to which Spectra tells the Prince he will try harder. Later, he sees Gate Cards fall from Earth, and confused, he and Gus talk to Professor Clay about this fact. He tells them that someone is trying to come to New Vestroia from Earth. The three of them hear Runo screaming, as she tries to make it to New Vestroia to help Dan. Intrigued, Spectra and Gus head out to investigate. While Shadow Prove battles Marucho, Gus, and Spectra talk about Earth., with both deciding to go. However, once they head to the portal, they find it blocked by Lync wanting to follow Hydron's orders. However, they ignore the young monarch as they head in, with the heroes and Lync following after.

Spectra, Gus, and Lync arrive on Earth after Dan, Mira, and Baron arrive there. After some talk, Spectra kidnaps Runo so that he can have Dan follow him, knowing how much he cares for her. Once Dan reaches Spectra, he tells Dan he wants to team up with him and lets Runo go. He explains how Hydron is the main villain and must be stopped to free the Bakugan. However, Spectra and Gus want the Resistance to join them so Spectra could usurp the role of the leader of New Vestroia. However, Alice arrives at the scene, using the card once owned by Masquerade to take Spectra and Gus back to New Vestroia.

Despite this, Gus and Spectra made their way back to the Brawlers' location by tracking Dan's gauntlet and are seen riding the Gondola Wheel in the amusement park. When they get out, they attract attention to themselves, causing Mira to notice them. Chasing after the two, they eventually are confronted and battled by Mira. Following Gus' loss to Mira per Mira's rules regarding their duel, Spectra reveals his true identity as Keith Fermin before heading off. much to the shock of Mira.

Spectra is later shown to be living in a warehouse on earth with Gus. One day, he walks around thinking of how Dan won't join him. A fortune teller warns him his path will be dangerous, which Spectra ignores. He returns to the warehouse when Gus arrives worried about him, and while eating lunch, he tells Gus he needs the power of the Brawlers' Bakugan to take down Hydron and decides to take Drago by force. He sends Dan a message asking him to fight, which the hero accepts. Before the battle, Gus annoys Spectra, asking him if he can battle Dan with him, to which Spectra replies on the personal nature of his fight. Once the two clash, Spectra wins the first round to where Drago wins in the second. In the final round, Spectra brings out his trap Metalfencer to combine with Helios Drago, and with this and a forbidden card, Spectra wins the duel and kidnaps Drago as a result. Sometime after, Spectra muses over Drago with Gus, noting annoyance over him now being enough for him, while Gus remains confident of Drago's power.

Later, Dan alongside Apollonir and the heroes find Gus and Spectra in their warehouse, and challenge Spectra to a rematch. Spectra uses Helios for the first round, but Apollonir defeats him. Spectra then uses a corrupted Drago and forces him to tap into the Perfect Core's power. This causes deadly strain on Drago's body, and even threatens to destroy New Vestroia. However, Dan manages to use Apolonir's strongest ability to defeat Drago and reclaim him from Spectra.

Sometime after, Spectra and Gus prepare to return to New Vestroia and decide to bring Lync with them, on the condition that he join Spectra in taking down Prince Hydron. When Dan and the Resistance try to stop him, Mira reveals she has double-crossed them and returns to New Vestroia with her brother.

When Spectra, Gus and Lync, return to New Vestroia, Mylene becomes shocked that Mira is with him, to which Spectra replies that she is a member of the Vexos. While Mylene and Shadow fight Dan and Barron at Beta City, Mira discovers Shun, Ace, and Marucho in stasis, and Spectra frees them, possibly to ensure Mira's loyalty much to Mylene's anger.

At Gamma City, Spectra has dinner with his sister and asks her to join him in his quest for power. Mira agrees, but only if Spectra can defeat her in a fight. Before the fight begins Gus tells Spectra that he may be giving to much information which Spectra doesn't care about. During this match, Spectra reveals Helios has volunteered to become a cyborg Bakugan, which horrifies his sister. Despite her best efforts, Cyborg Helios proves to be too much and defeats her. He then takes Mira to see Prince Hydron, where the monarch tells her to help get him Drago. Spectra then overhears Hydron ordering Lync to spy on him, which doesn't surprise him. Spectra and Gus take Mira and Lync to a room where Bakugan traps are being kept. Here, he tells them that they will only obey him and gives the traps to Gus and Mira to battle Dan and Ace, and then collect the data on Percival and Drago.

During the Resistance's raid on Gamma City, Spectra watches his sister and Gus battle Dan and Ace with a series of mechanical Bakugan Traps. He is surprised that Mira betrayed him and allowed the Resistance to take all the traps, but is undeterred as he has an alternate set. After the Brawlers fail to reach Prince Hydron's chamber, Spectra and Dan brawl in the area below. Drago manages to overpower Cyborg Helios at first, but when Spectra combines Helios with his traps to create Maxus Helios, Drago barely manages to endure him. Drago and Dan counter by using their own traps to form Maxus Dragonoid, and battle Helios on even terms. The brawl escalates and eventually takes to the skies, and then the ruins of Prince Hydron's tower. Spectra activates a blade-like function on his gauntlet and personally attacks Dan. When the tower begins to fall apart, it is revealed that both sides escaped and that Gus, Elico and Brontes rescued him. For his plotting against the throne, Spectra and Gus are labeled as traitors in Vestal.

A few months later, Spectra and Gus use Chaos Ability X on Vulcan, Brontes, and Elico, causing them to evolve into stronger versions of themselves. He is also shown to have evolved Helios into an improved body, Helios MK2, as well. He tells Gus that he will make sure he gets the perfect core energy before the Vexos strike. He then interrupts Dan and Volt's confrontation, much to the Volt's surprise, who thought Spectra was dead. Dan, Mira, and Marucho then all agree to fight him at once. Spectra shows off the power of his evolved Helios, but Drago, Wilda, and Elfin also evolve and use their skills to win the first round. In the second round, Spectra uses a powerful attack to take out Wilda and Elfin. Spectra then decides to form Maus Helios MK2 with Drago forming his Maxus form. After a tough fight, Dan wins. He then learns Spectra and Gus aren't members of the Vexos anymore as the two retreat.

Spectra then has Gus send out a broadcast to let Vestal know that he is a hero and is trying to stop King Zenoheld from ruling dimensions, although this is not his plan. He then jams the transporter from the mother palace, making the Vexos not being able to go to Vestal. Spectra then explains how he can now battle Dan without any interference.

The next day, Gus tells Spectra how the Vexos have now traveled from Vestal to Earth. Spectra then decides to go and beat Dan before the Brawlers head to Earth. He heads to Klaus von Hertzon's mansion in search of them, but finds only Klaus and Sirenoid. The two of them argue for a bit before Spectra leaves. When he returns to his ship, he sees that Gus has left to fight Volt as agreed earlier on. After Gus beats Volt, he returns, where he tells Spectra that Volt failed to join them, much to Spectra's sadness.

Spectra is later seen looking over Helios' info and wondering why he can't beat Drago. Gus tells him that the Vexos have found the brawlers hidden spot, and are going after the remaining attribute energies. Spectra uses the chance to battle Drago and take his perfect core energy. He then travels to Earth and transports Dan up to his ship, where Dan asks Spectra to join them to beat the Vexos, saying if the BT system is activated, then Spectra's ultimate Bakugan will be weakened. Spectra decides to challenge Dan to a brawl saying he will take them to the mother palace should he win. Dan agrees and the fight is on. Helios puts up a good fight, but Drago uses his abilities to win. Spectra then agrees to take Dan to the palace and sends Mira Ace Barron Shun and Marucho on the ship telling Gus to take them to the mother palace. Spectra seems to have a change of heart, referring to Dan as his friend in thanks for enlightening him. He later goes to the Command Bridge and talks to Gus about an anonymous source that gave him information. He reveals shortly that by using data on Bakugan evolution, he planned to bring out even further power from within the Bakugan.

Once they get to the place, Spectra tells the Restance that they are on there own in finding out how to stop the BT system. When Dn asks him why, Spectra responds he is a fool thinking that he will ever ally with the Brawlers. He and Gus confront the Vexos where Spectra warns Zenoheld to leave the Brawlers alone before they depart. Unknown to Spectra, Gus snuck back in and fought Zenoheld, but he lost. After approaching his father, Professor Clay, Spectra offered him to join him in exchange for the complete Bakugan DNA, but Professor Clay refused, saying that he didn't even consider Spectra his son anymore. Spectra then decides to team up with Dan and Mira to battle Hydron and Zenoheld, since he remembers that the BT system will be bad for Helios and to avenge Gus. Spectra tells Zenoheld he will pay for taking Gus away from him. When the battle begins, Hydron uses Dryoid to knock Mira out cold, although Spectra doesn't care as much. When things look bad for Drago and Heios, Spectra reveals that he now has battle gear and links it to Helios. With the power of battle gear, it helps Dan and Spectra beat Hydron. Zenoheld enters the Brawl in Round 2, with him and Dan up against Farbros. Despite Drago and Helios getting strong hits on Farbos, Dan and Spectra still lost to Zenoheld due to Professor Clay's activation of the final level of the trap field they were standing upon, causing the BT system to be full.

When Zenoheld announces his plans to kill the Bakugan, Spectra takes the Resistance on his ship to help evacuate the Bakugan. Baron showed surprise at Spectra helping them. However, Shun knew that Spectra was only helping for his own purposes (Spectra desires to create the Ultimate Bakugan, but if all the other Bakugan were destroyed by the BT System, his Ultimate Bakugan won't be so "ultimate"). When time begins to run out, Drago and Helios try to destroy the machine, but are unsuccessful. Drago lifts it into space where he breaks it; now without a host, the six attribute energies bond to him and cause him to evolve into Helix Dragonoid. Spetra and Helios than leave the Brawlers as he vows to destroy Dan once and for all next time they meet.

Spectra eventually decides to battle Dan in a final battle. He communicates to him telepathically and says that this time he will win, and Dan brings his friends and battles Spectra on a rocky area. Drago and Helios battle hard, winning one round each, but Dan emerges the winner. Spectra and Helios then redeem themselves and join the Resistance, much to Mira's joy.

Spectra takes of his mask becoming Keith and spends his time chatting with Mira much to Ace's jealousy. Later the group learn about the battle gear and how Spectra got battle gear for Helios. Keith decided to get Dan and Drago a Battle Gear, but to do so, he needed to engage Dan in battle again in order to test if the Battle Gear in question was right for Drago's body. He put his mask on once more, becoming Spectra yet again. He used Hawktor and Cordem against Drago which gave him trouble. Spectra told Dan to test out the battle gear, but Dragos body hurt so the battle ended with Dragos victory without the gear. Spectra takes off his mask and tells Mira to help Marucho analyze the data.

The next day Keith, Marucho and Mira work on analyzing Drago's data. He sees Mira distracted and asks what's wrong, though Mira says it is nothing. Mira then tells Spectra in private that she wishes Clay could join them as well. Spectra then gives Mira one of his bees to call him though clay refuses and learns that Spectra is a member of the Bralwers.

Later they learned about the Alternative by Alice thanks to her finding data Lync left behind. Keith and the Bakugan Battle Brawlers decided to set a trap for the Vexos' arrival. When Mylene and Shadow infiltrated Marucho's House to get the Battle Gear and Phantom Data, the Resistance managed to ambush them. But when Mylene held Mira hostage, Keith said that he'd give them the data and not to hurt her. He led them to a room, managing to trick them into Bakugan Interspace. Keith then challenged them to a brawl. He and Mira defeated the duo (destroying Macubass and MAC Spider), in two separate brawls. Spectra against Shadow and Mira against Mylene. but when Mylene tried to send them to another dimension via a Death Bomb, the Bakugan Interspace collapsed, trapping everyone inside. Keith and Mira managed to escape, but they were unable to save Mylene and Shadow.

Despite the Brawlers' plan to leave in the early morning to defeat King Zenoheld once and for all, Keith left on his own and challenged the King himself in the guise of Spectra, later with the help of Gus, whom Spectra was shocked to see alive. Zenoheld also revealed the Alternative Weapon before the end of the battle. At that time, the Bakugan Resistance arrived, and they swear to destroy the Alternative. As the fight continued, Keith and Mira managed to find a way into the Alternative by blasting a hole into it via Helios MK2 and his new Battle Gear, Zukanator. They found their father, who wished to protect his creation. When the Resistance members managed to destroy the power reactor of the Alternative, they also managed to escape, but Professor Clay was trapped behind and left behind when he saved Mira from being crushed by falling debris. The group reluctantly returned to the Vestal Destroyer as the Alternative blew up with Professor Clay, Prince Hydron, and King Zenoheld either inside or within the explosion's range The Resistance, along with Gus bid farewell to the Human Resistance members as they all returned to their own homes. The Resistance members all promised they would see the Brawlers again someday. In the Japanese Ending of Episode 52 (Final Fury in the English Version) he is shown to live his old life with Mira. She hands him a glass of juice and he receives it happily as she smiles at him.

Bakugan Gundalian Invaders[]

Spectra does not appear, but gets mentioned by Shun when he tells the Brawlers that the data that Spectra and Clay got was from Fabia to find brawlers to help her fight the Twelve Orders.

Bakugan Mechtanium Surge - First Arc[]

Spectra and Infinity Helios return in Interspace Under Siege, having received Marucho's distress SOS call and arriving in Bakugan Interspace via a Dimension Tunnel. He reveals that he and Helios had to change to Darkus in order for Helios MK2 to evolve into Infinity Helios. He then assists the brawlers in helping to rid Bakugan Interspace of the Chaos Bakugan. Anubis and Sellon become intrested in Spectra's power.

Soon Zenthon appears but Drago couldn't control him and, because of that, attacks all the Brawlers' Bakugan, included Infinity Helios. Spectra seems disappointed and sad about Dan's attitude and leaves the interior of the Bakugan Interspace.

Spectra later came to Gundlia to help out Dan and Drago fight against Mag Mel Anubias and Sellon. He used a new Bacunao called Bombaplode and allowed Dan to even the odds. Following the Battle Brawlers victory Spectra retreited telling Dan to call him anytime. Dan later mentions Spectra when he tells Fabia and Nurzak how he lend a hand.

Spectra and Helios than appear with their new Mechtogon Slynix, to help in the battle. Spectra and Dan team up once more and use their powers to take out a large army of Bakugan such as Bolcanon, Krakenoid, Horridian and many others. However Krowll combines with Krakenoid to form a mutant which gives Helios trouble causing Drago to help him. When things become to dangerous Spetcra and Helios decide to stay behind causing Dan to worry. Dan and the rest of the Brawlers believed that he didn't make it out alive, and Dan got upset about it.
