| ~ Spencer preparing to shoot Bobby after Athena refuses to hand over the Black Book. |
AUSA Spencer is the main antagonist of the first three episodes of Season 8 of the TV series 9-1-1.
He is a Asst. US Attorney who orchestrated the search for a Black Book, containing incriminating evidence against key figures including himself.
He was portrayed by Sean Hemeon.
Biography[]
In the past, Spencer was associated with a sex trafficker named Maxwell Fulton, looking the other way in exchange for satisfying his own pleasure. Unknown to him, Maxwell was able to gather evidence against Spencer and his other clients in a Black Book, using it as a contingency plan. Soon Maxwell threatened him and he was forced to comply covertly with his demands.
Eventually, the US attorney's office made a deal with convicted killer Dennis Jenkins to have him transferred to Maxwell's prison and get close to him in order to find out about his clients. Before Maxwell committed suicide, he told Dennis about the Black Book's location.
Buzzkill[]
Upon receiving word that Dennis knew the location of the book after Maxwell hung himself, Spencer spearheaded an investigation for it, offering Dennis early release for it, something that was accepted. At Dennis' request, Athena Grant accompanied him.
When the Boeing Gets Tough...[]
Learning that Athena and Dennis weren't on the plane they were intended to get on, Spencer and AUSA Lawrence confronted Captain Maynard, threatening to have her and Athena fired if Dennis wasn't delivered to them within an hour.
Final Approach[]
He and Lawrence showed up to the plane landing site, where they asked LAFD Captain Bobby on where Athena was. Bobby gave her supposed whereabouts and they headed out, though Athena suspected someone in the US attorney office was corrupt. She decided to go to the Black book's location, before the Attorney's office could get there first and take it somewhere else. They went to a parking garage, finding Maxwell's luxurious car and locating the book and discovered how it contains QR codes that implicate several influential people and prepared to leave until Spencer arrived.
He held the trio at gunpoint and revealed he knew Athena sent him on a wild goose chase, since he was aware that Bobby was her husband, so he slipped away from Lawrence and gives thanks for finding the book. Athena realized Spencer was in the book, which is why he wanted the book to avoid consequences. Seeing they know too much, he demanded it and shot Dennis, who took the bullet aimed for Bobby and was left wounded. Spencer then turned his sights on Bobby and Athena, with them questioning what he intended to do after claiming his prize, as he reveals his intentions to kill them and frame it on the known cop killer Dennis who he had to shoot when he attempted to escape. Before he could act on it, Dennis uses a shiv he crafted to shank him in his lower region. The pain caused him to shoot the ground, allowing Athena and Bobby to disarm and detain him. When Athena called for an RA unit, a pleading Spencer requested that she have them hurry but Athena told the wounded man to shut up because that was nothing compared to what he's facing. Meanwhile, Dennis was happy that he got the chance to shank someone.
Athena and Bobby later spoke with AUSA Lawrence about the case, as it turned out Spencer orchestrated the entire search for the book, because there was indeed incriminating evidence against him in it. The Nash couple realized he was trying to get ahead of everyone in the process, but Lawrence remarked that he didn't count on Athena stopping him, something Bobby noted was his biggest mistake. Spencer was presumably disbarred and charged for crimes of conspiracy, sex crimes, and attempted murder.
