Spencer York is a murderer who would place various traps in various places in Chicago with the aim of killing people close to his former professor Isaac Webber. He was portrayed by Alex Stage.

Background[]

Spencer's father died when he was little, that would affect Spencer's life a lot, then he grew up looking for a new father figure, while he was in college he would find a new father figure, his teacher Isaac Webber. Seeking to impress him, Spencer worked day and night while tirelessly preparing a thesis, which was titled "Spheres of Influence" and was about how one person could transmit psychic trauma to another, Isaac ended up rejecting Spencer's thesis. Angrily, he confronted Isaac in the middle of the classroom, but this scene caused members of the class to call the university security who would stop Spencer and escort him out. As a result of his meltdown, he would be expelled from the university, which gave Spencer a reason to hold a grudge and want revenge on Isaac.

Spencer decided to ensure Issac suffered, so he didn't want to hurt him directly, instead he would decide to test his thesis on Issac himself. Spencer would go into Issac's house and ties him up. After Spencer was done, he would leave Issac's and then would go after the people who "were within his sphere"; his first target was Luther Markov, Isaac's mentor. Spencer murdered Luther while he was at his house, then left the corpse in the tub to try and dissolved it with acid. Spencer would leave traps for the entire house targeting the police, because Spencer knew some patrolmen were coming to visit to Luther, due to the threats that Luther made to the Bulgarian president, so Spencer would go for the next target, which was Travis, Isaac's son.

Shouldn't Have Been Alone[]

Spencer murders Travis and leaves the corpse surrounded by traps similar to the traps in Luther's house, then leaves his apartment and shaves his head to remain inconspicuous, but not before leaving more traps in his apartment, while he was away. He later kidnaps Issac's ex-wife Susannah Webber and takes her to a house Susannah built for her lover, Spencer ties Susannah to a chair and leaves her surrounded by explosives, and also straps a timer to her back, which is activated by calling a number, a specific phone number which Spencer had written down and places in her pocket. Spencer had also put traps in her place and when the police arrived at her apartment it would blow up. Spencer later returns to her apartment to see the destruction she had caused, Erin Lindsay realizes the way Spencer was looking at the destroyed apartment, so she approaches him. Realizing she was onto him, Spencer gets nervous and tries to escape, but Jay Halstead intercepts and arrests him, bringing him to the precinct. In the interrogation room, Halstead and Lindsay confront him about all the traps and also about the location of Susana Webber, but Spencer always repeated the Saying that "you can't put the house back together", Jay Halstead finds the number that detonated the detonator in Spencer's pocket and inadvertently ends up detonating a bomb strapped to Susannah's back, later the Chicago police manage to locate her. the house and Sergeant Hank Voight rescues Susannah Webber and deactivate the bomb that she had on her back.

Spencer would later be charged for kidnapping, and homicides, ultimately incarcerated for life.
