The Spetsnaz Operative is a minor antagonist in the 2010 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops. He is Spetsnaz operative and member of the Soviet Union's Red Army while working for Nikita Dragovich. He makes his only appearance in "Payback", where he forces American soldiers to play Russian roulette, before being killed by Alex Mason and Frank Woods to avenge Joseph Bowman's death.
He is voiced by Roman Varshavsky in motion capture, who also played Vladimir Makarov in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sub-series. Hugh Daly provided facial capture for the character.
Biography
The Spetsnaz Operative is first seen interrogating the CIA operatives Alex Mason, Joseph Bowman and Frank Woods, who were captured in Vietnam by Nikita Dragovich and Lev Kravchenko. While keeping Mason and Bowman at a table facing each other, he and the VC Bookie forced them both to play Russian roulette. However, Bowman refused to play and instead goaded the Russian (by insulting him), into using a metal pipe to bludgeon him to death and toss him aside, shouting "Next!"
Woods is then brought out, but as the two of them play along and survive, they managed to break free, forcing the Russian to flee while the two of them kill everybody else. They chase him through the tunnels, and as he tries to pry the door open to escape and warn everyone else, he is shot and killed by either Mason and Woods, avenging Bowman's death.

- When he is trying to open the door at the end of the tunnel, the player can kill him with a single bullet or even a direct impact from a grenade.
- It is impossible to gib him.
- While Roman Varshavsky provided the voice and motion-capture for the Russian, his facial capture and physical resemblance was provided by Hugh Daly.
