Spittor is a minor antagonist in the third and final season of Transformers: Animated, appearing primarily in the three-part episode "Transwarped". He served as a member of Team Chaar, an elite, highly effective Decepticon strike force under the command of Strika.

Biography[]

Backstory[]

Like all Decepticons, Spittor works towards defeating the Autobots and establishing Decepticon rule over their home planet, Cybertron. In his alternate form, he can extend tongue-like cables to grab victims and pull them into his mouth-like structure. Once "swallowed," his prey is coated in a combustible slime and spat out, exploding on impact. He is generally a disgusting and lazy creature, even by Decepticon standards. Spittor's actions constitute numerous war crimes and other illegal acts according to Cybertronian law, primarily involving assault and the use of a chemical weapon/explosive on an opponent. He is generally described as a "shameless liar", suggesting a degree of deceptiveness which might be considered a "skill" in an intelligence-gathering or evasive context. He is also considered extremely lazy.

Season 3[]

As part of Team Chaar, he was involved in key Decepticon operations, such as the attack and capture of a crucial space bridge. The team's overall goal was to secure Cybertronian territory for Megatron.

Spittor participated in an all out assault on space bridge 687-030, engaging with several members of the Autobot Elite Guard. During the battle, he successfully incapacitated the Autobot medic Red Alert, and then used her (coated in his explosive slime) as a projectile to take out Brawn and Ironhide. He attempted the same attack on Rodimus Prime, who responded by firing two arrows into Spittor's extended tongue-cables, pinning him temporarily in place. He required help from his teammates, Cyclonus and Oil Slick, to free himself from the pinned position.

Before a decisive defeat could occur, Megatron transmitted an order to Strika's entire team (including Spittor) to withdraw from the space bridge they were attacking, promising "grave consequences" if they disobeyed. Spittor's ultimate fate at the very end of the series is not explicitly shown, but he was not captured or killed.

Trivia[]

  • The Transformers: Animated version of Spittor is an homage to the original Beast Wars character of the same name, who also transformed into a frog (a poison dart frog).
