Spoings are minor enemies that appear throughout the Super Mario Galaxy duology. They are spidery foes that leap at great length at the player to cause damage. They are possibly related to Tarantox, though this is unconfirmed. They are seemingly related to Spanglers (which may also be related to Tarantox).

Super Mario Galaxy[]
Spoings appear first in Ghostly Galaxy, where they leap at the player to inflict damage. They then reappear in Sea Slide Galaxy and Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada.
Super Mario Galaxy 2[]
Spoings reappear in the second installment as a less common enemy, appearing only in Yoshi Star Galaxy and Tall Trunk Galaxy. Their attack behaviour remains identical.
Physical appearance[]
Spoings have four legs, meaning they are not truly arachnids as they have six. They have light brown heads which are the same colour as their knees and feet. They also have striped, furry bodies similar to a tarantula. They have small, bioluminescent eyes.

- Their names are a portmanteau of "spider" and "boing".
