Springman is a minor antagonist in the anime/manga series Kinnikuman.

He makes his first appearance as one of the main antagonists during the Seven Devil Chojin Arc where he would be killed, later he would be revived and serve as a minor ally during the Perfect Origin Arc where he would be killed again.

In Japanese, during the first Kinnikuman anime, Springman would be voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka who also voiced Donquixote Doflamingo in One Piece.

In the Perfect Origin Arc, Springman would be voiced by Tetsuya Kakihara who also voiced Solf J. Kimblee in Fullmetal Alchemist.

Appearance[]

Most of Springman's body is one large metallic silver spring, as his name would suggest. At the tip of the spring's coil is Springman's face. Springman seemingly has no mouth despite his ability to speak, has bright yellow eyes and has a capital S on his forehead.

From the coil of his spring body are four metal rods that lead to four smaller springs with hands and feet attached to them. The only clothes that Springman wears are a pair of blue gloves on his hands and blue boots on his feet.

In Kinnikuman Nisei, the only change to Springman's appearance is that he wears a pair of glasses, his eyesight deteriorating in his old age.

Biography[]

Past[]

Springman's past is mostly unknown, what is known is that Springman made a deal with Satan in exchange for power, becoming a Devil Chojin and would be trained by the Six Devil Knights until he and the rest of the Seven Devil Chojin were sealed away.

Kinnikuman[]

Springman would make his first appearance after Kinnikuman would accidentally free the Seven Devil Chojin and they attack Warsman before the Devil Chojin would try to fight Kinnikuman to prove how powerful they were. When Kinnikuman refused, they attacked Meat, splitting his body into pieces, with Springman getting one of Meat's arms, which could be brought back together, however, if they stayed apart for 10 days then he would die.

Springman would be set to fight against Wolfman. Wolfman would slap Springman repeatedly, however, his spring body would negate the damage he took before Springman left over to a nearby rock and chipped away at them to make a set of stairs for him to bounce down, leaping around Wolfman's body, constricting him before crushing Wolfman's body, splitting him into pieces.

Next Springman would fight in a tag team match with Buffaloman and fight against Kinnikuman and Mongolman. They set up an electric clock on the wall of the ring, as time passed, more and more of the walls electrified with two pieces of Meat's body being locked to the wall with Springman and Buffaloman holding the keys in order to free them.

Springman and Buffaloman would leap at the two with Mongolman catching Springman and throwing him at Buffaloman. Springman would leap into the air and get hit at Kinnikuman by Buffaloman headbutting Springman which would launch Kinnikuman toward the electrified wall but Mongolman would use his hair to catch him.

Mongolman would use his hair to grab Springman and swing him around, ready to throw him at the wall, however, he saw that he was about to throw Springman at Meat's body and would let him go. Realising that Mongolman was willing to protect Meat's body, Buffaloman would launch Springman at Meat's body, forcing Mongolman to block it with his body.

Springman would leap toward Mongolman to attack him, however, Kinnikuman and Mongolman would both deliver a clothesline to Springman at the same time. Springman would get back to Buffaloman and they agreed that Springman would fight Mongolman and Buffaloman would fight Kinnikuman.

Springman would leap back into the ring, getting caught by Mongolman who tried to use a backbreaker on Springman, however, his spring body stopped it from harming him. Springman would repeatedly jump on Mongolman, making him sweat which he would use to create a rain cloud, the rain rusting Springman's body which made him easier to grapple.

Mongolman was ready to tear Springman apart with a Camel Clutch before he realised that would reveal Mongolman's true identity as Ramenman. Springman would deliver an elbow to Mongolman's face before leaping into the stairs of the stadium and would bounce down them and wrap around Mongolman's body, ready to kill him.

Using his hair, Mongolman would tangle up Springman's body and use Springman try to crush him to make Mongolman fly into the air. Mongolman would then fall on top of Springman, knocking him out. Mongolman would then kick Springman at the electric wall clock as it was about to reach Meat's arm, electrocuting Springman's body and killing him instantly.

After he and the rest of the Seven Devil Chojin were revived, they would all be killed and decapitated by the Six Devil Knights as punishment for losing to the Justice Chojin.

Kinnikuman (2011)[]

After being revived, Springman would train his body with help of Sneagator, making his spring body be able to stretch more and be able to squeeze an opponent better.

Once the Perfect Chojin appeared, the Seven Devil Chojin would be sent out to combat them with Springman wanting to go fight Peek-a-Boo, however, Kinnikuman got to him first, making Springman be forced to watch the rest of the Seven Devil Chojin fight the Perfect Large Numbers with Buffaloman.

At the Tottori Sand Dunes, Springman would run into one of the doorways, reappearing at the fourth step where he would fight against Grim Reaper. Grim Reaper would use his buzzsaw hat to cut Springman's leg before tossing him onto the corner post of the ring, trapping him. Springman would crush the corner post, launching pieces of it at Grim Reaper before delivering a dropkick to him and constricting Grim Reaper.

When Black Hole was being beaten and mocked by the audience, Springman would cheer him on, telling him to win no matter what and that his cheap ways were the proof that he is a true Devil Chojin. Once Black Hole won his fight, his fight would damage the steps, making it so that when Buffaloman slammed Turboman to the ground, they collapsed, making Buffaloman and Turboman fall into the ring that Springman and Grim Reaper were in, both pairs would agree to form a tag team match.

After hearing Turboman insult Stereo-Cassette King, he would leap at him, wanting to avenge his death. Turboman would deliver a clothesline to Springman before trying to stab him. Springman would wrap around Turboman's arm and fling him to the ground before jumping up and down on Turboman, who would kick Springman off of him, almost launching him out of the ring but Buffaloman caught him.

Buffaloman would start to pull at Springman, making him slam around Turboman by letting go of Springman. Springman would leap out of the ring, letting Buffaloman beat on Turboman until Buffaloman would get tag teamed by Turboman and Grim Reaper. Grim Reaper would launch Turboman at Buffaloman who tried to pull Springman open again to slam him around Turboman, but he was too fast for this to work.

Springman would watch as Buffaloman got slammed against the world over and over again, Buffaloman gave a thumbs up, letting Springman know to hold back. After Buffaloman caught Turboman and threw him at the wall, Springman realised that Buffaloman was making a set of stairs out of the rock that Springman used the stairs to bounce down and constrict around Turboman.

As he squeezed Turboman's body, Turboman would power up Springman's body, making him hardened and lose all of his elasticity, letting Turboman escape and stab Springman's face and throw him at Buffaloman.

Springman, in a last-ditch attack, would lift up Buffaloman and use him as a battering ram to stab Turboman with Buffaloman's longhorns over and over again. As he does so, Springman's body started to break away until his legs shattered. When his legs broke, Springman would throw Buffaloman at Turboman, making him break through Turboman's gauntlet spikes and impale him through the chest, killing him.

Buffaloman would run over to Springman to make sure he was okay, however, Springman's body broke apart and he'd die in a few seconds.

Kinnikuman Nisei[]

Note: The events of Kinnikuman (2011) are seemingly non-canonical to the events of Kinnikuman Nisei

In Kinnikuman Nisei, at some unknown point in time, Springman was resurrected, whether this was done by Satan, Akuma Shogun or his own will is unknown. In the thirty years since the original Kinnikuman, Springman's eyesight started to become worse, requiring him to wear glasses.

Springman is first seen helping Buffaloman over to where Ashuraman and Mantaro Kinniku are fighting. Springman had visited Buffaloman in the hospital after being badly injured by The Constellation. They would eventually get to the Osore Mountain where they would watch the match. During this time, Buffaloman would tell Springman that Ashuraman had killed his child Shiva.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Chojin Physiology: As a Chojin granted strength by Satan, Springman has immense strength, speed and durability far above most other Chojin who already have the ability to perform superhuman feats. Other abilities that Chojin have that Springman likely has is the ability to grow to be as large as a building and the ability to fly without wings or thrusters, even in the vacuum of space.
  • Spring Body: Springman's spring body gives him the ability to have most physical attacks just bounce off of him and to let Springman bounce around in a confusing manner. Springman can use his body to coil around his opponent, crushing them and splitting them into pieces.
