Squatto is a supporting antagonist in the Ao Oni franchise. It is a Colossal Giant that is part of unnamed species of Demons which resides in an abandoned Mansion on the Outskirts of Town hunting and killing anyone who dares visits it, including the main characters.

Squatto is a much taller and bulkier Oni with the exception of its arms and bottom side completely black.
Biography[]
Ao Oni[]
In Version 3.0, Squatto can be found in a room by the stairs where it kills Mika, this will occur a chase. There can also be found 2 Squattos in the Blueberry Farm, one squatting, other chasing Hiroshi.
In Version 6.23, Squatto is seen in the Blueberry Farm where it squats idly inside the jail cell. After Hunchback Oni opens the gate and starts approaching the player, it disappears alongside all other variants in the cell.
Ao Oni 2[]
Squatto appears in the Blueberry Farm and its related chase. It also appears in the final chase in some of the dead ends.
Squatto Oni appears on the Principal's scenario's Blueberry Farm and subsequent chase.
Later, a couple Squatto Onis can be found inside a blue-covered area, where they idly squat before standing up and moving sporadically. If the player grabs the key inside the room, they'll start chase and catch up to the player if they weren't able to close their individuals rooms
Squatto can also be seen as an altar graphic.
Ao Oni 3[]
Squatto is absent from the main story, thought it also has an altar graphic
On Tetsuya's scenario If the player offers a red stone to the altar, Squatto Oni, alongside Ao Oni and Fuwatty, appear and attack the player.
A couple Squatto Onis can be seen behind the cells in the basement idly squatting. It also appears at the end of the scenario, as part of the ambush, coming from the right door.
In Takeshi's scenario, it can also be found in the Ao Oni-Infested pit where Takeshi has to balance himself to not fall.
Ao Oni X[]
In the main story if the player takes a wrong path inside the Mountains' labyrinth, the player will fall into a small area surrounded by Squatto Oni and other variants and receive a game over, but it can never interact with the player due to it being a cutscene.
If the player flips the lever in the Swamp without inputting the correct light sequence, it'll appear as part of an ambush to cause a game over. Like the previous game over cutscene, it can never interact with the player.
In Takuro's scenario, three Squatto Onis hatch from stone eggs during the initiation of the ritual, cornering Takuro and Pon-Chan. However, Pon-Chan distracts them, allowing Takuro to escape. Depending on whenever Takuro is able to destroy the preparations in time, the events may play out different: The 3 giants and Pon-Chan will disappear if he's successful, otherwise, he'll witness as one of the Squatto Onis kills Pon-Chan.
Ao Oni Online[]
Squatto appears as a 2-star mask in the game.
Ao Oni: The Blue Monster[]
Squatto Oni stars as part of a trio with The Oni and Fuwatty.
In episode 11 "Aooni Switch", it kills Mika after she laughted at it when a book fell from a bookshelf.
In the final episode, Squatto passed away during the 70 years the characters who have stayed in the mansion. It is not seen physically, but The Oni carries a portrait of it and Squatto's soul seen squating before fading away.

Although it does not make an appearance, an spritesheet of Ao Oni squatting can be found, referencing Squatto.

Squatto can be found in the Hidden Onsen, where it squats idly and does not interact with the player.

Pillar Chase 2[]
Squatto appears as a legendary skin for Ao Oni which costs 1050 coins. It is also an NPC in the map Oni's Mansion and it will leave when there is Last Man Standing, blocking a looping path.
Personality[]
Much like its species, Squatto is shown to be emotionless in spite of followed by murderous instinct to kill anyone who entered its mansion. It's also shown to have brutal strength as it can break off a wall in Ao Oni: Mutation.

- "Squatto" was a fan name, which originates from a version 3.0 gameplay from two japanese NicoNico streamers, where they would yell "SQUATTO" upon seeing The said Oni. This name would later be adopted as its official name as early as the Guidebook.
- Interestingly, the back of Squatto's head is visible, while The Onis isn't.
- Squatto in Pillar Chase 2 originally was more shaped like a bodybuilder until it was changed to look more like his original appearance.
- In the Ao Oni MiddleSchool novels, The Ao Oni is often mistaken by Squatto.
