Stafuv Rahz is the main antagonist of the 1980 Star Wars: Legends comic strip "Bring Me the Children". He is a lizard-like alien who serves the Galactic Empire, having been commissioned as an army major as a reward for showing the Empire a way to take over his home planet.
Biography[]
Past[]
Rahz was born and raised on the inhospitable planet Hoszh Iszhir, where he worked on maintaining the planet's shields to prevent greedy prospectors from arriving and exploiting the planet's valuable guerrerite reserves. Wanting power, Rahz gained an audience with Emperor Palpatine and offered him a way past the shields in return for a commission in the Imperial military. Palpatine agreed, prompting Rahz to disable the shields and allow the Empire to enslave the population and put them to work in the mines. As a reward, Rahz was commissioned as a major and appointed to serve under Darth Vader.
While serving in the military, Rahz invaded the planet Kar'a'katok and captured a native named Ampotem Za. He escaped and returned to his home planet, but was shunned by the rest of the population and so defected to the Empire, later becoming overlord of Mandalore and changing his name to the Suprema.
Star Wars: Legends[]
Rahz, along with a detachment of Imperial Stormtroopers, are dispatched to Harix to capture a teacher named Myoris Lin, who is suspected of supporting the Rebel Alliance. While she is arrested along with most of the children in her class, her son Berd escapes and is rescued by Luke Skywalker, a member of the Alliance.
Rahz sends a small fleet of starfighters to kill Luke, but they are destroyed. Rahz is forced to request aid from Vader, and is told to broadcast a message that the captured children will be executed if the rebels do not surrender. Vader also tells Rahz that if he is forced to rescue him again, then the SOS will be the last message he ever sends.
Rahz returns to Harix to personally oversee the executions, stationing a fleet of starfighters behind a mountain range to ambush the rebels. However, the entire fleet is destroyed in an avalanche caused by Han Solo and the Imperials are easily outnumbered. To save face, Rahz decides to personally execute the children only to be restrained by Luke and several other adversaries. Shedding his skin and tail, he escapes them and tries to execute the children with a sonic projector. What he is unaware of is that it has been sabotaged, and therefore he is killed when he tries to use it.
