~ Mr. Spark before kidnapping Leopold Rochester |
Stanley Spark was a villain in Criminal Case: Mysteries of the Past, where he was the main antagonist of the Century Mile district. He was a suspect in the murder investigation of three people, then he was exposed to be the one who paid Chief Inspector Eleanor Halsted to sabotage inventions at the World Exhibition.
Biography[]
Mr. Spark became a suspect in the murder investigation of Casper Rove after sending him a note saying he'd still lose. Stanley was sad that Casper had died, and then said that human chess players wouldn't exist one day, and that machines such as Celine Georges' Chessmatron is the ultimate innovation in chess. He felt that there was no way Casper would beat the Chessmaton, and even if he beat it would eventually happen one day, hence why he wrote the victim that note. Stanley was spoken to again when Isaac and the player found out that he and the victim had cancelled a bet at the last minute, because Stanley had bet on the Chessmatron to beat Casper but when he found out the Casper had an upper hand against the machine, Mr. Spark call it quits. As Casper's mentor Bron Sklar was arrested for the murder, Stanley was found innocent for the murder of Casper.
When Stanley became a suspect again, it was because Madeline and the player found a poster of Mr. Spark offering a reward for any information on the saboteur. When Stanley was told that a person against innovation was murdered, he was happy because he hoped that Arnold, the victim, was the saboteur. Madeline and the player spoke to Stanley again when a sign Arnold made of the victim was found, accusing him of mistreating his employees. Mr. Spark was mad that Arnold spread lies about him, because he never mistreated his employees and Arnold only thought so because they were working on the Exo-suit. When suggested he killed him before he wrecked his 'precious suit', Stanley said he would not waste electricity on 'slanderous protestors'.
Even after the killer was arrested, in the additional investigation Mr. Spark was spoken to by the player and Justin Lawson. They spoke to him because of rumors that he was the exhibition saboteur, because his invention was the only one left untouched by the criminal. Stanley then said he was not the saboteur and was trying to catch them, and that he wouldn't "cheat" in the competition.
In the very next case Stanley became a suspect again because his fingerprints were found on the scene of Celine Georges' murder. Mr. Spark was shocked at Celine's sudden death, but was even more shocked when he found out he was put at the center of the crime scene. He said he wasn't her killer nor was he the saboteur, and then said that his Exo-suit was better than anything Celine would make. He was spoken to again when it was found out he invited the victim to the tower where she was pushed off of. It was thought he and the victim had a romantic relationship, but he explained otherwise, saying they were just meeting. When asked how Celine had interpreted it, Stanley said he did not care how, because despite their mutual interests they were still rivals in the competition.
After Eleanor Halsted was arrested and brought to court, she explained that Stanley paid her to sabotage inventions at the World Exhibition. In the additional investigation, it was set out to arrest Mr. Spark but he was already wearing his suit at the ceremony. When held at gunpoint, Stanley kidnapped Leopold and flew all the way over to the Exhibition Tower. Stanley had knocked Leopold out and left him on the ground, but he stood atop the Exhibition Tower, unfazed. Charles and Viola had analyzed collected parts, and found out that the Exo-suit was leaking oil. Charles tried to warn Spark not to fly away, Stanley didn't listen, and when the leakage took a final toll, Stanley fell to his deserved death.
