Stannif is a supporting antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country. He is a researcher for the Indoline Praetorium.
He was voiced by Hirohiko Kakegawa in Japanese and Nicholas Colicos in English.
Biography[]
Stannif is first seen walking with Amalthus towards a secret room in a corridor within Indol. As they walk, Stannif warns Amalthus that Magister Baltrich has a grudge against him and he cannot hide behind Praetor Rhadallis forever. Amalthus tells him that info has nothing to do with him, but Stannif tells Amalthus that if that was true, he wouldn't be there.
Once they reach the room, Amalthus discovers it to be full of various scrap metal. Stannif tells Amalthus the scraps are Judician relics salvaged from the Cloud Sea near the Land of Morytha, and only he and the Praetor know of it. From the technology, Stannif reveals to Amalthus that Blades are made of the same genetic material as humans. Not just that, but he discovered Core Crystals record information of all living creatures and will one day evolve into Titans. He insists Amalthus takes his information for his own and not the Praetor, as it was in line with his goals.
Later on in Gormott, Stannif leads a group of Indoline monks in collecting Core Crystals. While collecting, they run into Gort, having fled from Torigoth after Jin cuts off his arms. Stannif saw this as potential for his research and kidnapped Gort, taking him to Indol as a test subject to study Blade Eaters. He reveals to Amalthus that by infusing Gort with the energy of Blades, he will become even stronger than a Flesh Eater. He remarks should Gort ever go rogue, the binding will soon decay and he will die. The result turned Gort into a massive creature and tested it out against Lora and Jin. Despite Gort being defeated, the experiment was deemed a success and replicated to construct more Blade Eaters for Indol's military force.
Stannif is last seen in the end credits after Baltrich and Rhaddalis are assassinated, where he escorts High Prince Zettar into Indol following Torna's destruction.
Trivia[]
