Starólfr the Troublesome is a minor antagonist in the 2022 dark fantasy game God of War Ragnarök. They serve as one of the twelve berserkers in the game, and fight alongside their lover, Bödvar the Fierce.
Biography[]
At an unknown period of time, either before or during their service to King Hrólf Kraki, Starólfr managed to seduce Bödvar away from his wife, Drifa, and convince him to have an affair with her.
While in service to the Berserker King, she was a brutal sadist that enjoyed slaughtering the families of her enemies, and relished in their reaction. She took pleasure in either watching her opponents break down in sadness upon hearing the news of their family's torture and death, or the surge of vengeance that consumed them when they tried to fight back. Regardless of what it was, Starólfr loved it, and would sadistically kill her foe regardless of what they did after psychologically torturing them with the deaths of their loved ones.
Since they share the same tombstone, it can be assumed Starólfr and Bödvar were together at the time of their original defeat.
When Kratos uses the Hilt of Skofnung to summon the two lovers, he gets the chance to fight them. If Bödvar is to die before Starólfr, she will cry out in anguish and swear to kill Kratos for that. Despite her oath, she too is killed, and decapitated, by the Spartan. Both her and Bödvar's souls go on to get absorbed by the Hilt of Skofnung.
