~ The Star Bellies bragging about losing their stars.

The Star Bellied Sneetches are the main antagonists (alongside Sylvester Mcmonkey Mcbean) of The Sneetches segment of Dr. Seuss on the Loose. One Sneetch by the bonfire was voiced by the late Hans Conried (who also narrated this special, as well as voicing Captain Hook in Peter Pan, Snidley Whiplash in Dudley Do Right of the Mounties, the Grinch in Halloween is Grinch Night, and portrayed Dr. Terwilliker in The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T) and the rest of the Sneetches were voiced by the late Paul Winchell (who also voiced Dick Dastardly in Wacky Races and Gargamel in The Smurfs), the late Mel Blanc, the late Howard Morris, and the late Bob Holt (who also voiced Sylvester McMonkey McBean in said special, and the Grinch in The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat).

Synopsis[]

The star bellies spent everyday bullying and shunning the Plain Bellied Sneetches, every night they would throw campfire roasts and would leave the plain bellies out in the cold and if they tried joining in on the fun, they would be kicked and booted by the star bellies.

One day, a con man named Sylvester McMonkey McBean noticed that the Star Bellied Sneetches had treated them poorly and with his Star On Machine, for $3, the plain bellies got stars on their bellies. This outraged the Star Bellied Sneetches as they were no longer special and couldn't tell which one is plain or a star. Sylvester promised to get rid of the stars on the Star Bellied Sneetches with his Star Off Machine for $10, and the Star Bellied Sneetches start bragging about losing their stars. This made the other Sneetches mad, but McBean let them into the machine. For the rest of the day, all the Sneetches constantly got rid of and getting their stars back over and over again until neither the star and plain bellies couldn't tell which one is a star and which one is a plain. After McBean left, the Sneetches learned that having a star doesn't matter of being special and both plain and star bellies became friends.

Trivia[]

  • They were inspired by (and were meant to symbolize) Christians being horrible to Jewish people, particularly Nazis. The star represents Jesus Christ.
